I will be at WDW from 6/22 - 7/5. I will have the DDP from 6/22-6/27 only. I have all my ADR's for this planned. After that my parents will leave and my son and I plan to just take it easy and do as we wish. Nothing pre-planned. Will I be out of luck if I want to eat any table service resturants during this time with no ADR's? I mean I could call early in the AM for the evening but that's the most I really want to plan. On past trips I have felt like everything revolved around dinning reservations.

I think you will be in trouble if you want to eat in any of the popular Theme Park restaurants. That is the busy July 4th period of time, and I think the TS restaurants will be pretty booked.
You may have more luck at some of the lesser know resort restaurants (i.e Boatwrights or Olivia's at OKW). If you have your heart set on just about anywhere else I think you should make an ADR in advance.

I agree - I think ADRs are a "necessary evil." You can always cancel them if you change your mind or your plans change, but you can't make them appear out of thin air if you haven't made any ADRs!

I think you won't have much of a problem making ADR's for that evening. You'll have to be flexible, maybe eat earlier or later and probably won't get CRT or LeCell. However if you've hit your must-do's on your trip, you'll be able to find someplace either in the theme park itself or at a nearby resort.

Also, remember there are dining experiences that don't take reservations. Since you aren't doing the DDP for the second leg, consider Rainforest Cafe, ESPN, Beaches & Cream, or anyplace at the Dolphin or Swan (which don't participate in the plan at all)

A fluke story happened to my friend a few months ago. She was sitting with her group of 4 and on a whim they called to see if there was breakfast in the castle available the next morning (Saturday morning) There was! Now that is more the exception than the rule, but even during Easter week last year, I was able to get a reservation for Boma for breakfast less than 24 hours in advance.
