Since the January 2008 rates/packages have not come out, I am considering booking my ADRs with credit card.

I am not sure if another family is going to be going with us or not because they want to know what the cost is going to be. The other party would be 4 adults, 1 three year old and 1 infant. Is that a reservation for 6 or 5?

Should I make two reservations for each place? One for 4 people and one for 9/10 people? Then I could cancel whichever reservation I didn't need. My ADR date starts July 8 (we are going Jan 4-12). What do you recommend? Should I wait for the packages to come out? Will I be ok waiting?

I'm a bit confused by what you're planning on doing. Why do you need a CC to book your dining ressies? If you're unsure about the # of people going, I'd book for the most you would have and then re-book if less are going. It's easier to take away than add sometimes.

As I understand it, unless you have a dining plan booked you need to reserve with a credit card.

You can't book the dining plan yet.

And so from what you are saying... I should book one reservation for the big party and if it changes I can call back and just make it for four people. I shouldn't have to book two reservations for each place, one for 4 and one for 9?

No, you don't have to have the dining plan to make ADRs. In fact, you don't need a reservation to book them. It just has to be within 180 days from the date of the ADR. I always book our ADRs way before I book our rooms. Good luck!

I know you don't need a package to reserve the rooms. I am wondering what is a better way to make my reservations:

1. Should I reserve for 10 people? If the other 6 don't come, can I call and change it to 4?

2. Should I make two reservations? One for four people and one for 10 people, then cancel whichever one I don't need.

As I understand it, unless you have a dining plan booked you need to reserve with a credit card.

Dining plan or no, the only reservation that requires prepayment is Cinderella's Royal Table. A few others require a CC number at booking, but don't charge anything unless you cancel with less than 48 hours advance notice or don't show. But the vast majority of Disney restaurants don't require any CC information for booking.

You don't have to have a package to book dining. You can just call. No CC needed unless it is for one of the few that require a CC guarantee (and you still need to do that even if you are on the dining plan).

I would make the ADRs for 10 and then change the number if needed. That's just me though
