ADR or not?

We will be in DL the week of Monday 7th December. We want to eat at Blue Bayou and BTRBBQ. Do I need to make ADRs, I usually have them but this time I would prefer to be a bit more laid back as there are only 3 of us. What do you think?

Definitely make dining reservations for both. You likely don't need to make the reservations today or even this week, but the sooner you do so, the more likely you'll get preferred dining times. Blye Bayou is very difficult to get into at the last minute. BTRBBQ is more likely to book up these days since it will be closing forever as of January 10th.

Also,better to make reservations now and cancel 24+ hours ahead than wait until 24 hours beforehand and find out there aren't any reservations left. It doesn't cost anything to make reservations as long as you cancel at least 24 hours ahead of time.

For the BB, you definitely need ADR's.

Since you know you want to eat at these two restaurants you should make reservations. The parks have been very crowded ever since the start of the 60th and there is far less walk up dining available. When we were there in late September, Big Thunder was consistently turning away all walk ups even on week days. Most likely many are dining there one last time before it closes permanently in January. Blue Bayou is almost always fully booked so again, not much likelihood of walking up.

We will be there the same week, and like you we like to be more flexible and spontaneous. I still made ADR's for those two places, because I was still too worried that we would miss out on them if we didn't.

Do not wait to make reservations as it's ALWAYS best to have them and cancel 24 hours before than to regret not going. I always advise everyone to make ADRs because it's just not worth the disappointment of being turned away. I've seen it so much that families are upset or angry at it when it could be avoided.
