Okay all you Disney Restaurant experts, need some help.

Planning my trip for early next year ( yes I know, way too early). We will be spending our first trip as DVCers at OKW. We are staying 6 nights, sneaking off site to do Aquatica and Sea World the first two days. Will be doing DDP for the last three days spent in WDW. I need some help with restaurants! My tentative plan as far as parks is:

Epcot and Disney Hollywood on Day 1, would like to do a Fantasmic dinner that night.

MK - Day 2

Animal Kingdom- Day 3

Would like to do a 2 TS in their some where. Maybe Brown Derby. We could do 2 counter services on one of those days. We LOVE Wolfgang Puck Express.

Here is what we did last time and how it went over with DH, me and four kidlets.

Chef Mickeys- Everybody was happy
50's Prime Time- I was happy, no one else was
Ohana- DH and I were in heaven, kids were whining
Le Cellier- food was great, service was horrible, too long, missed illuminations, had a 7:20 reservation got a table at 8:30
CRT- really really disappointing, food was icky!

So....given those experiences, what are your thoughts? Kids at time of travel will be 14, 10, 8 and 6.

Ann!

DHS Fantasmic - Hollywood and Vine worked well for us; we also loved Chef Mickey's so I think H&V would offer something for everyone in your group!

Save the big AK meal for Boma at the Lodge; it'll be cool to spend some time there, they have the kids pod with many std items, but the rest of the buffet will have a range of things, some unique to Boma; we loved it and think the food coupled with the animal viewing activities could make it a hit for your family; we booked around 6pm and took the bus over from AK, about a 5min ride, we hit Illuminations after dinner

MK - The Plaza is pretty simple food, but I hear its good (have a pre Spectromagic dinner scheduled for our next trip). Nice thing about it is you'll be happy to see the family get a good meal and they'll be happy to not have to leave MK or take a lot of time away from rides, etc. to get it. There are plenty of CS options to chose from as well. We didn't like Peco Bill's, but many do. I would be OK to let the 14 & 10yo eat a CS on their own if they go off riding together. For one meal I'm sure the 14yo could manage the credits just fine. They may even decide to share something as there is often plenty in the meals. They will certainly use some snack credits so don't get in a tizzie when they do (teen and pre teen  ).

I have booked lunch at Crystal Palace for lunch this trip. The menu looks awesome the characters should be fun for my 6yo nephew. We also must return to Chef Mickey's.

We only did one 2TS meal, Narcoossee's; WOW! The food and service were great, our 6yo loved it and I noticed a lot of well behaved, happy little people cleaning their plates. We had a ressie in time to see the Electric Water parade go by and to step outside to enjoy Wishes. It was a magical first night dinner.

Not sure if DDP mean Deluxe or Disney, but if you only have 3TS credits, I probably would not spend 2 of them on one meal.

You have quite the crowd to please, good luck!

Good ideas! Hadn't thought about Boma as I didn't know you could get there easily from AK. Husband is a bit of a fussy eater too! Do you think he would be okay?

Thought about Hollywood and Vine too, think buffets are really good options for my crowd!

An inside MK plan would be good as well. We had a great time at Chef Mickeys but would love to stay in the park. I guess it would be a toss up between Liberty Tavern and Crystal Plaza.

We will be doing regular dining plan, that is plenty of food, even for my three growing boys and their equally hungry sister!

Just some thoughts as far as your park selections:

Magic Kingdom -- breakfast at Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends or lunch/dinner at Plaza Restaurant or lunch at Liberty Tree Inn (unless you want characters--then do the dinner)

Epcot -- Biergarten is always loads of fun

Animal Kingdom -- can't really offer any advice except counter service (Flame Tree Barbecue) because we are trying table service this coming trip in September (Yak & Yeti)

Hollywood Studios -- we would suggest Mama Melrose. Hollywood & Vine is one of two Disney restaurants we refuse to ever go into again.

Boma has plain and exotic items, my understanding it the meats are pretty plain and the sauces are there to add more flavor. The buffet is HUGE so I think your hubby can find some things there. They have an entire pod devoted to soups. I think there were 4 different kinds. He may even find somthing there to enjoy. My mother fell in love with a couple.

If you have a chance to take a look at the menus for LTT and Crystal Palace and decide what would suit your family. One plus of LTT is they bring the food to you. However, I love some of the choices at Crystal Palace so we'll be trying that for Lunch this trip.

Congrats on your DVC! That's gotta be a great way to enjoy Disney, especially with your family of growing boys.

i'm curious...what is the second restaurant that you refuse to go to?

back to op's question...another option for the MK day is Chef Mickey's in CR. You can head there for breakfast, then hop on the monorail over to MK. Or take the monorail there after a day in the parks...
