Hi.
We are traveling with my folks for their 40th, and want to give them an evening alone for them to have a nice dinner. I currently have ADRS for them at Les Chefs de France (no openings at Le Cellier) for the night we are in Epcot. We don't have hoppers, but they could head over to dolphin/swan or boardwalk area OR hop monorail/bus to another resort.

What do yall suggest? They requested Le Cellier, but cannot get in...they love the standards (steak, italian, seafood, mediterranean) but not huge ethnic fans.

Is Chefs worthy of their 40th anniv? bluezoo? (how long of a hike is that?)

Thanks.

I think I'd recommend the Flying Fish which is located at the Boardwalk, about a 10 to 15 min walk from the International Gateway in Epcot. Take a look at the menu - it changes regularly, but you'll get an idea of what they serve.

If they don't mind a nice boat ride, I'd also suggest the Brown Derby for the nostalgia aspect.

Good luck!

I haven't been there personally but from what I've read and pictures in reviews around here Chefs de France fits the occasion nicely. I agree the Brown Derby is nice but in another park, right?-so that's out. How about the Yachtsman Steakhouse to fit your parents taste more if Chef's is too adventurous for them? Or Coral Reef has good food and a nice atmosphere.

Why don't you check out Spoodles (Boardwalk) or Yachtsman steak house (yacht club)? Both just a boat ride away from epcot.

Too funny! We just got back in May and my inlaws celebrated their 40th and this is what we did. My dh made them t-shirts to wear that said, We are celebrating 40 magical years together" and we got them to wear these and we made adr for Coral Reef. We got in touch w/Debbie @ CR and they gave us a really good table by the tank and the diver came down with the sign that read "Happy 40th Anniversary Sherry and Donnie on 40 magical yrs. together, we love you, B, P, and K. When he came up luckily my dh had the video camera going cause we didn't have a warning. My MIL said, what does that say? And they were thrilled! Now, I emailed them a picture and message they were suppose to put in their menu but they couldn't find it. That was fine. They brought them a chocolate made champagne flute filled w/choc mousse, and had strawberries and raspberries with drizzled choc around it w/a glass of champagne. All of this was free! Disney Magic. My inlaws loved it and what a memory!!
Have fun!

I would recommend the California Grill. It's a great atmosphere, the food is fantastic, and since it's in the Contemporary you don't need park admission.

We have been married 31 years, hence you kind of know our age. Le Cellier USED to be our favorite, but we feel it has really gone down hill in service and food, (yep, we're one of THOSE people LOL) Anyway, our new favorite is Artist Point. I think you're parents would love it. Tell them to ask for a window seat and tell them to wait for it if it's not long. The food is similar to Le Cellier but MUCH better and atmosphere and service are excellent.

If you make the reservation tell them it's their 40th Anniversary, there's a good chance they will make a note of it on the reservation. No guarantees, but it's worth a try. Or tell them "casually" you want it to be special for their 40th anniversary and can you ask for a window seat in advance. Something like that. Either way, I think they'd like it, esp. if they liked Le Cellier.

Artist Point it is! I was a little hesitant, since it will use up 2 of their TS meals credits, but it looks so nice and it had so many available openings for the date I needed. I guess it's a little known secret...free dining has not taken over there yet!

By the way, the CM who made my ADRs was so helpful and suggested this: since they're using two dining credits for this meal, I was thinking they'd have to pay out of pocket for one of the buffets we're doing. But he checked our ADR list and suggested they pay out of pocket at 50's Prime Time and said the following: my Dh and I will order an appetizer, as well as our DS4, and parents can eat off those. Same with desserts. Then they'll only pay for their actual meal. AND he said the cm should take the two most expensive meals and use the TS credits for them, and parents can pay out of pocket for the cheaper 2 of the adult meals. He was a huge help!

If you could get them in I would suggest sending them over to California Grill at the Contemporary resort.
