What happens if you make an ADR for 3 and then show up with 4; the 4th being a 1 year old in a high chair? Will they refuse to seat you?

Usually (though not always) you can show up with four adults for a table booked for three adults. This is because there is only some restaurants have tables for three; so when you book for three, you would be allocated a table for four.

You say an infant, and although someone may have the exact answer, I imagine that you would not run into any problems, as even if it was a table for three (and not four) there may be enough room to squeeze a little one in.

And even if it were a problem they may ask you to wait a little longer rather than seat you. You should try to call and add the infant as soon as you know.

This happened to us on our last vacation. We ran into my uncle while in the park. He wanted to join us for dinner. I ran over to the restaurant and added 1 to our adr. The hostess said when you check in let them know that there is one additional person and it won't be a problem. We did end up waiting a few more minutes for a table (went from 2 to 3 people). HTH
