ADR for someone else?

My daughter is taking a solo trip for her birthday in March and really would like to eat at Topolino's for her birthday dinner. Since she has to be at work early when it is time to make her ADR, I told her that I would try for her but I'm not sure how to do this. Can I make an ADR for her on my account? Would they honor it if she gives them my name or am I required to there?

Sure they will. Just make sure you put the correct amount of people on the reservation. If you are listed to share plans in MDE, I would select her as one of the guests on the reservation so that it will show in her plans as well. Just keep in mind if for some reason she cannot go you will have to modify/cancel the reservation from your account to avoid being charged.

I just saw you said solo trip. So, if it was for one you wouldn’t be able to add her on the guests obviously, but it still should not be a problem. She just needs to give your name at check-in.

Alternatively, could she give you the password to her MDE account and change it after you make the reservation? That way it would show in her plans. Just another option.

Honestly, I would make the reservation for a party of 2 and make sure she is the second guest. I travel solo a lot to Disney and find it is easier to get ADRs for two than for one. There is no charge if you show up with fewer people than on the ADR. And you are still reserving the same table size🙂

I make reservations for my son all the time and I just use my husband's acct. He goes in and tells them my husbands name and that's it. At the end of the meal he gives them his CM ID for the discount, which is definitely not the name on the reservation. I don't think it matters

You can make the ADR via your MDE but list her as the primary guest. But as above, it won’t matter — all she needs to check in is the name of the primary guest. But only the primary guest can modify or cancel the ADR.

If she has her own MDE account - just sign in as her and make the reservation for 2 (her as primary - since it is her account and you as the guest) I am assuming that she has you listed on her friends and family account list.

The most direct way would be to login to her MDE account and make the ADR. Disney never asks you to prove the names of people in your party regardless of the number who show up. Having it on her account also makes sense so she can change/cancel it once at Disney if her plans happen to change and she wants to eat elsewhere.

I’ve never heard of them checking ID. However, I would want the ADR under her control in case something changes close in and she needs to modify. Therefore, I would use her login info to make the res (she can always give it a temp pw and change it back).

This may be important because an ADR for a solo diner that isn’t at a horrid time is a needle in a haystack. Odds are you will need to make it for 2 people or even more. If it’s on her account she check in via the app and drop the number of guests to 1 instead of having to do it in person (it never results in issues but some people find explaining you’re a solo diner when you scheduled for more than 1 is awkward).
