ADR cancellation

We are going to WDW Sept 18-22 and already have some ADRs made. We are wanting to get CRT and will drop any existing ADR if one comes available.

My question is to confirm or refute what a phone res CM told me a couple of weeks ago...

She said that if we keep our existing ADR and find a CRT (or other) time available the day before or early in the morning, that we can simply reschedule our existing ADR (that would incur a cancellation fee) to a later date. This would prevent us from being charged the no-show/cancellation fees.

Does anyone have any information or experience with doing this?

yes I have done this many times and never been charged

The latest word seems to be that Disney is on to this loophole and will charge the cancellation fee even if you "reschedule" your reservation after the cancellation deadline.

I recently had a phone CM suggest the same thing. She said they just do not want "no shows"
