ADR cancellation: 24 hours or night before?

So I know this is a basic question, but...

We have a late lunch ADR at Crystal Palace for our first day in the park. We are driving, and planning on taking 2 days to get there (my husband is slow), so depending on how early we leave on the first day, we may/may not make it in time for the ADR. By the evening of driving day #1, we should know if we will be able to make the 1pm ADR, but, I would like to cancel it if we will miss (credit card being held).
So, my question is, do I have to cancel a full 24 hours before (ie: noon the day before) or by close-of-business (10 pm or so the day before)? It would make a big difference for our situation. Thanks!

If your reservation is on Tuesday you must cancel it by close of business on Monday.

We were told you have to cancel a full 24 hrs ahead to not be charged.

On 9/27 we decided to change our plans and go to MNSSHP on 9/28 instead of using our park passes for the day. We were at DTD so we went to guest services and first bought the party tickets, then asked the CM to cancel our crystal palace reservations that we had for lunch on the 28th. She said sure, but couldnt't do it and had to ask another CM. that lady was quite ... Less than friendly... And said that we would be charged b/c it was less than 24 hrs. (our ADR was for 11:30 the next day, it was then 4:00. She said we would have had to cancel by 11:30 am on the 27th). We had 8 People, so that would have been $80. I had thought we had to cancel by the night before, and when I calmly told the helpful CM this she said she would see what she could do. She went into the back room for probably 15 min, And when she came out she said she talked to dining and they agreed to waive the fee for us. I was so thankful, she was very helpful but the other lady seemed to get a kick out of telling me I would have to pay. So I would be careful when canceling, or confirm for sure before canceling less than 24 hrs ahead.

Here's the FAQ.
At restaurants with the credit card guarantee policy, all cancellations should be made at least 1 day in advance of your reservation. For example: if your reservation is on Thursday, you must cancel your reservation no later than Wednesday end of day. Cancellation fees will be assessed for cancellations made on the day of your reservation.
As written I think the most accurate interpretation is end of calendar day but I'd check with them to be sure. Better to not be arguing this later with a CC charge looming.

I wish I had known the wording of the policy when I was talking to guest services. It sure does sound like you should be able to cancel up until the night before, just not the day of. Maybe I should find that on my phone for ourupcomig trip - just in case! At least there are only 3 of us this time - I can take $30 better than $80 as punishment for last minute changes!

I cancelled a few reservations during our trip around 11pm the night before online. No charge or any problem. If you don't have access to the Internet, then be sure and call by close of biz day.
