what happens if we eat at hollywood and vine at HS at 8:00 when park opens at 9:00 and we're done eating at 8:45? can we head over to toy story to get in line, or are we held back by the rope? i was wondering if the rope starts closer to the entrance and we'd already be on the other side of it.

we just did Crystal Palace at 8:05 on May 22, and Hollywood & Vine at 8:00 on May 23...parks opened at 9:00. You are in a nearly empty park, so can get some good pictures, but you don't get to go line up for any rides.

In the MK, after breakfast, we were allowed to walk through the castle to the entrance to Fantasyland...there was a rope there, but was really nice to already be at Fantasyland when the park opens...we just walked around the corner & walked on Peter Pan...then walked on it again 5 minutes later when DH caught up with us (he'd gone to get Splash Mtn fast passes.) Crystal Palace breakfast was fabulous.

At DHS, the service was really slow at H & V, so even though we were seated shortly after 8, we didn't get out until almost 9:00...at which time there were huge crowds at the ropes so we really didn't get any advantage from being in the park early for breakfast. H&V breakfast was not nearly as good as Crystal Palace, either.

We had a 8:05 adr at akershus at epcot last year, and had a similar experience as a previous poster. We were finished eating at 8:45, left the restaurant, but there weren't a lot of places we could go. We wanted to head to test track first to grab fp's since it was fairly close, but we couldn't get too close, line up or anything before 9:00. It was nice being in the empty park for pix, but no real ride advantages...except that you're coming from a different direction (at least in epcot) than the rest of the mob.

Hi Cathy, we probably won't have the budget for too many Character meals but I really like the idea of the Crystal Palace. We will plan to be there for rope drops each day at all the parks and ready to race to the popular rides but I feel really sad at the idea of having to rush my youngest daughter up Main Street in MK (we will visit it first) as it will be the first trip to a Disney park that she will remember (she was only 18 mths old when we took our children to Disneyland). Would be such a shame to feel rushed and will be so lovely to enter early and to walk slowly up Main Street, taking in all the magic, on the way to breakfast :)
