When planning your ADR's, do most people have a back-up plan in the event of unavailability?

Cheers

It is always most helpful to be flexible when trying to book ADRs. I always have a time and day in mind (usually based on EMH), and depending on how badly I want to eat at that particular drives my flexibility! Always have a backup plan ready.:goodvibes

I absolutely had a back up plan. Keep in mind, I was more concerned with being able to secure reservations at certain restaurants and was willing to be VERY flexible with times and dates. Our CRT dinner for later in the week turned into lunch earlier in the week. If I hadn't been able to get into CRT at all, I was willing to accept Akershus or 1900 Park Fare. If you can't be flexible on times, then you really should have other restaurants in mind, especially with more popular venues like Chef Mickey's, CRT, Le Cellier, etc.

We always have back up plans. We are really flexible in our dates and times when we want to eat though. I think that helps.

We always get what we can get on the first phone call, and then we call back after we figure everything out and what times we ended up getting for our must-dos and work around that.

I start with a list of restaurants ranked by desireability with preferred dates. The list is always 1 or 2 restaurants longer than the number of days.

Then I ask for LeCellier first. And take any day or time it is available. And then I work around that. Since I've only gotten it once for dinner in the last 5 trips, the back up restaurant normally goes on the schedule.

We are early diners, so we normally have no problem getting a slot between 5:30 and 7:00 anywhere we want.

I actually work our park schedule based on my ADR's, though most people do it the opposite way. Morning park is not the one we have evening ADR.

I called yesterday for our ADRs. Since this was my first time and I am fairly anal to begin with, I had a back-up for all of my choices. For our most desired choices, my back-up was a different day; for our not-as-desired choices, the back-up was a different TS.

When I called this week, the only back-up I needed was for Chef Mickey. The CM could not find anything for dinner on my preferred date, but I got the time I wanted on my back-up date.

By the way, like I said this was my first time doing this and I have heard all about the trouble booking Le Cellier. When I called yesterday, it was the 6th ADR I made, but I got it for the day and time that I wanted with no problem. Is it getting easier to get?
