ADR Advice

The last time my family went to WDW was in September 2009 during Free Dining and ADRs then were made at 90 days which was perfect, made our ADRs as we booked the trip at the 100 day mark.

This year 2 families are planning a trip for October and want the dining plan because we will be doing lots of character meals including CRT. We will likely be going October 14(Columbus Day) to October 21 OR October 19-26. Airfare for the first dates will be over $1000 cheaper for us all but I am afraid there will be no discount for checking on on Columbus Day. In the past when there was FD in October it started up around 10/19 or 20. I am going to need to start making ADRs in a few weeks and am not sure what to do as there is no way to know what if any discounts there will be for October. We will go even if no FD but at least hopiong for a room discount otherwise we may not be able to stay at a Mod. I have no problems making ADRs every day for 2 weeks to cover both weeks but making 2 sets of ADRs for CRT and paying for it up front is going to be expensive.

Any suggestions from other DISers would be appreciated.

Since you have an overlap of 3 days could you just book CRT and any other restaurants that require prepayment for those days? If you have the dining plan already booked then you won't be required to prepay as long as the days you are booking the prepay restaurant are covered under the dates you booked your package for.

Thanks, I had not even thought of that! We haven't booked anything as yet so can't use the dining plan for the ressies.
