Our plane lands at MCO at 2pm, we are taking the ME to POFQ. We would like to get checked into the resort and to the Ploy for a 5pm ADR. Do you think we can make it? :flower3:

Thanks

Rule of thumb is 3 hours from landing to resort/park. So you should be fine... if you seem a little behind take a cab instead of the bus. (Since you have to bus to MK and then monorail or boat to poly this should save quite a bit of time.)

I always try to track this when we arrive. It always seems to take about 2 to 2 1/12 hours for us. It all ways depends on how quick we can get on the ME bus and the bus from our resort after check in.

This will work if you are pressed for time BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE DINING PLAN OR DOING FREE DINING. If you are on the DDP you will have to go to your resort and check in, in order to receive your KTTWs.

But 3 hours should get you there in time, providing your flight arrives on time. Good luck. I always find arrival day ADRs stressful when they are so early.

ETA: Just re read the post. Did you perhaps mean take a cab instead of the bus to the Poly from their resort?? I initially thought you were referring to DME. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Kind of pushing it, in my opinion. You are banking on your plane being on time. Also, won't you have to go through customs?

Just hope for the best!

If timing went perfectly and everything goes smoothly, you'll still be cutting it pretty close. If your plane is delayed, passing through customs takes longer then expected, you have to wait for ME or your the last resort off of ME, there is unexpected traffic, etc. etc. etc. are all factors that are out of your hands. Sure taking a taxi from MCO to POFQ and then a taxi from POFQ to Poly can save you some time, but IMO it's still cutting it a little too close for my comfort zone.

If it's a restaurant you really have your hearts set on I'd push it off until later in your trip. No need to start off a Disney trip with the added stress of will you make it to your ADR in time or not, especially if your talking 'Ohana. If you are the slightest bit late to your ADR at 'Ohana, they can and often will skip your ADR and tell you to wait with the walk-ups. They are probably the strictest of the restaurants when it comes to ADR times, even for the first seating of the night.

Thanks for your responses. It is Ohana we are trying to get to and we do have our hearts set on it. Unfortunately we ended up with a WDW arrival
date sooner than we planned to qualify for free dining and I had to check for cancellations at Ohana until I finally got this opening for 5pm on our arrival date.

Soooo this is the only time we can get so far. We do not have to go through customs because we fly from within the USA so that will save us some time and also we are planning on cabbing it from the POFQ.

I know it is pushing it but unless I can change the time we are stuck trying.:)

Anyone else have any thoughts.

I think it will be close, but you'll be ok as long as your plane lands on time. Did you do online check in? We've never done it, but it is supposed to make check-in faster. Definitely take the cab! We did that for our Ohana breakfast ressies because we didn't want to deal with busing to MK and then having to switch and wait for the monorail or ferry. Worked out MUCH better with our group of 9.

We have never done the on-line check-in but that might help a bit, Thanks:thumbsup2

It might but it might not. It really all depends. I have read from some people that the on-line check-in line has moved slower than the normal check-in line (we personally haven't had a problem with it). It's all luck of the draw I guess. I would keep trying for a different ADR time up until you get there if you have to.

Rule of thumb is 3 hours from landing to resort/park.

Not sure where this "rule of thumb" comes from. I find that the time from landing to checking into the resort is usually about 70 - 90 minutes. It can be longer, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Arriving dressed for dinner will speed things up. If you are not delayed in arriving and if you take a cab from resort to resort, you should be OK.

Make sure you have what you want to wear to dinner with you. If you use ME, your luggage will not be there for 3 hours. I think you should be fine. Especially if you take a cab from POFQ to the Poly. Have fun, we love Ohanna's

It will depend a little on luck--if your flight is delayed or it takes a long time to get a DME bus, you might be cutting it a little close. I'd definitely try to sit as close to the front of the plane as possible and to move through the airport to DME as quickly as possible. You can count on the DME ride being about 45 min. Then when you get to the resort, you should definitely be ready to check in, possibly drop carry-on bags in your room, and then hail a cab to the Poly. You might be able to leave your carry-ons at bell services if you're cutting it especially tight.

I'd also keep checking for a different ADR time--things do open up occasionally.

you *may* make it if you take a taxi from your resort to the poly after checking in- which you will have to do if using the dining plan-

I would not do it though, the stress of trying to get to a ressie after a long flight is too much for my family.

I definitely think it will be tight. But, I just got back and was told that they give you a 20 minute grace period with an ADR before you become a "walk up" guest.

So, if you are running a few minutes late, you should be fine. I would definitely plan to take a taxi from your resort to Poly. We did that for an ADR at Crystal Palace--took taxi from BWV to CR and then walked from there--and it was easy.

I would not but that is just me. I think it depends some on the make up of your group. My decision is not to make a reservation on arrival day unless it's in the resort I'm staying in, or my plane lands at least 5 hours ahead of it, but then my crew doesn't get anywhere fast.

Our first trip we landed at 3:35, which was 10 minutes early. We walked right onto a bus at ME, went to ASMo (last stop for this bus). I had done online check-in so was in a much shorter line, but they were having computer issues. Finally got checked in, went to the room and took some stuff I didn't need out of the carry-on, swung by to pick up the stroller and we went to the bus stop.

It's good you are getting a cab. Wouldn't you know two busses came for each park before one MK bus showed up. And we were not at the front of the line. There were people who had been there 15 minutes, plus the 20 we waited so we had not just missed one. Several people abandoned the line when the 2nd Epcot bus came. It was well after 7:00 by the time we got to mainstreet at MK.

Are you flying out of DTW on Delta? If so, they have a habitual problem with running late and changing planes and gates at the last minute. Yuck!

Hey, if you are late, just go to Ohana, and the worse they can do is say no. If that is the case, I've heard you can get both the yummy macadamia nut bread from Kona and the scrumptious bread pudding from Ohana at the sushi bar.

Seriously? 3 hrs...wow. I have never waited that long to get a bus, get to the resort and checked in and then get to a park....nor do i know anyone who has taken that long. I don't know where that 'rule of thumb' rule came from....BUT, i think you should be fine. If you want to spend the extra money on taking a cab, that might help to speed it up a bit. But I have never had a problem with getting around in a timely manner. I think you have lots of it....relax....

and have a GREAT trip:cool1:

Thank you all for your advice!!! We are flying with Airtran in response to previous post and the particular flight is supposed to have a 93% track record of being within 15 mins of the arrival time so we are hopeful it will all work out in our favor.

It's just one of those things we have never had to deal with yet and were not to sure about, you guys are awesome at having all the answers.

Where else can you go to find out the REAL answers to what you REALLY need to know about your trip. The Dis rocks.:thumbsup2
