The ornaments are what make this tree the best

After we left the Mara we went up to the club lounge for desserts and cocktails. There was a selection of cookies out along with Kahlua and other dessert beverages.

I'll have more tomorrow from the Magic Kingdom.
I loved the ornaments on the tree in AKL too. I was looking for a place to buy them, but was surprised I couldn't get them in the gift shop. Oh well...

Mmmmm, kahlua is Dana and my favorite. Have some for us Aaron.

My best to you, Kim, and Anna. Have fun!

You are brave for doing Disney this week. I cant wait to hear all about your trip we love AKL CL too!! We will be up on the 30th for Ethans birthday; I will keep an eye out for you guys. Have fun!

Hi Aaron hope you are having a good morning in MK.
We have never been in animal kingdom at night, we will have to try this. :thumbsup2
Hope we can meet up with Anna, kim, and you this week.

Hi Everyone,

We are sitting on the curb of a crowded Main St. waiting for the Christmas parade to start. We arrived at the Magic Kingdom at 7:45AM and walked on everything. The park is extremely crowded now.

After the parade we are headed to Adventureland so Anna can do the Pirate League. Then we are out of here and heading back to AKL for an afternoon rest.

The weather is gorgeous today; sunny and comfortably warm.

I'll have more later with photos.

Monday, Dec 28th

Hi Everyone,

we are back from our Morning/Afternoon at the Magic Kingdom. We got quite a bit accomplished mostly because we got to the park extremely early. We arrived at the gates of the Magic Kingdom at 7:45AM with very few people on Main St. Thank goodness for breakfast in the club lounge. It saved us quite a bit of time.

A pretty quiet Main St.

As we walked through the Main St. train station a Cast Member was handing out 20% off lunch coupons. You had to use these coupons before 11:30AM or after 3:00PM to get the 20% discount. I should also mention all of the shops are still offering a 20% discount to AP holders for general merchandise.

Here's the coupon handed to me for the 20% lunch purchase

Our first stop was over in Fantasyland where all the attractions were walk-on. Later in the morning we walked over to Frontierland and got fastpasses for Big Thunder. By 10:00AM it was obvious the crowds were growing rapidly. We had already accomplished what we wanted except for our fastpass attractions (Big Thunder and Buzz Lightyear).

Here's a photo of the crowds streaming into the Magic Kingdom

Here is one bit of information I recently discovered on a tour. Over in Liberty Square there is a replica of the Liberty Bell located in Philadelphia. Each state recieved one of the replicas in 1976 (200 year anniversary of the U.S.A.). 50 replicas were made; however, Pennsylvania did not need their replica since they have the original. Walt Disney World asked for the unused replica and it sits in the center of Liberty Square today. So, baiscally Florida has 2 of the replicas.

At 11:15AM we decided it was time to stake out our Christmas parade spot on Main St. I had already seen this parade during DAP while many of us attended the Very Merry Christmas Party. I must admit, there isn't much of a difference between the Christmas party and what you can see the days between Christmas and New Years. Same parade, same fireworks, same shows the only difference is you get hot chocolate, cookies, a dance party, and it snows on Main St. It sort of makes you wonder why you are paying so much for a hard-ticketed party. I honestly can't eat $50 worth of cookies and hot chocolate. :) Anyway, the parade was very good. Here are some photos of the parade.

After the parade ended we headed to Adventurland for Anna's Pirate League reservation. The Pirate League gives children and adults the opportunity to be made up in pirate costumes and make-up. It's located right next to Pirates of the Caribbean. Currently, you can save 50% off all 3 pirate packages by being a Disney world resort guest. A great deal!

You start off in an entry room with a pirate who has you roll 2 dice and asks your child their birthday. The combination of the 2 (roll of the dice and birthday) assigns a pirate name to the guest. This is your name throughout your adventure. Next you are brought into the room where you are made up and turned into a pirate. Anna chose an Empress package which included painted nails, bandana, make-up, a tattoo, 5 X 8 photo and sword. Once you are made-up you are lead into a 3rd room where you get your photo taken and you can find a burried treasure. The burried treasure is really a pirate coin necklace which you get to keep.

I thought this was a very good experience; especially for the $25 we paid for it. I highly recommend it.

Here's a photo of Anna getting her make-up done during the session.

After we finished at the Pirate League we headed out of the Magic Kingdom. Walking through Main St. we saw a couple of Magic Kingdom staples.

That was our day so far. We got way more accomplished than I could have imagined considering the time of year. Later we hope to head back over to the Animal Kingdom for evening Extra Magic Hours, but I'm not sure if we will make it over. If not, we may spend some time outside at the resort's fire pit. It's going to be a cool evening and spending some time next to a fire sounds like a good idea.

More to come! :)

I agree that the resort decorations look a little sparse this year. What pirate did Anna pick for her facial makeover?

Glad to hear you got there early - I was hoping you would, was thinking about you guys, MK had a phase 2 closing at 10:30! Went to a phase 3 for both MK and AK...

Do you have a pic of Pirate Anna?

It was a Pirate Empress. It was the most female look they had. I sort of thought the other packages were unisex, but I was outvoted by Kim and the cast member helping us. :)

Yea...When we left around 2:30. It was pretty crowded. Surprised to see the AK go into phase 3 closing.

I didn't get a pic of the finished product; although, it may not be too late.

The Animal Kingdom has evening Extra Magic Hours tonight. Anna and I are headed out the door. What are you guys doing tomorrow?

great report Aaron (as always)..

i love the Christmas parade - it's my favorite of all the parades..
i'm not sure why, but it really just sends my heart soaring (ok - so i'm corny)..

thanks for the heads up about the pirate discount for resort guests...i had no idea...

the 20% discount on food is pretty good, considering the time of year....

I can't believe I was missing an Aaron live trip report! I love your trip reports!

This morning we are heading over to POR to drop the boys off for their pirate adventure. We have 2 hours don't know what we will do with that time as it really isn't long enough to go anywhere.
After we get the boys back we may head to a park then, but we haven't decided which one.
I am hoping we can meet up at some point. :thumbsup2

We are headed out the door to EPCOT. We don't plan on riding much today. We just plan to tour World Showcase. Tonight we are doing the Candlelight Processional with dinner at Chef's De France. Angela Bassett is the celebrity narrator.

I'll post from the parks via eTicket. Photos to come tonight. :)

I love your report, as usual. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info.

I would agree with you about the parties. If everything is available during Christmas week, then why pay $62 for cocoa and cookie?

This year's party was fun because we were all there as a group, but it did not measure up to the parties of the past when, for example, you got your picture taken for free and sent to you. It seemed like the parties are now MK at night with a little Christmas stuff thrown in.

I guess its the recession, but I don't know if I believe that.

Can't wait to hear more!!!

Hi Everyone,

We are sitting at EPCOT waiting for our Candlelight reservation at Chef's. Crowds are thick. Wait time on Soarin is 160 minutes. We have Fastpasses for 7:30. We got those at 10:30 today. Wait time on the Grand Fiesta Tour in Mexico was 35 minutes.

More later. :)
