Which is better or are they equal?

I've got nothing against Adorama, but I always use B&H. They have a better selection, so it's one stop shopping for me. Also, NAPP members get free three day shipping from B&H, so that seals the deal for me. I saved a good chunk of my NAPP membership yesterday ordering a pair of 107" wide rolls of paper and getting Viveza for $135 on a NAPP special at B&H. The only downside is that you can't order until between sunset on Friday and sunrise on Saturday (based on NYC times).

All that said, I haven't heard much bad about Adorama. I'd base my decision on price and convenience.

I only use B&H. I never had any issues. I mainly use them because they don't charge sales tax in NJ,Adorama does.

I have used both. I have no complaints with either and would recommend both. They are both reputable dealers who stand behind their product.

Like Gianna'sPapa, I have used both B&H and Adorama and found both to be quite good. Apart from Amazon these are the only online photo stores I would use.

I mainly deal with Adorama and I've been very happy. Both are great.

I've like both but I tend to lean toward B&H because Adorama doesn't carry some of the things I buy for the darkroom anymore.

I've used a number of online stores for photo gear buying (usually just smaller stuff as I buy most lenses on eBay). Nothing against B&H, it really seems like a great company (and I've read a number of online articles indicating it is), but I have never purchased from it. I can get better cashback at almost any other store (B&H is 1%) and often find a coupon as well. While their base prices are very competitive, I usually only buy things when I can get a deal.

I've come to like Abes of Maine, Beach Camera, and J&R (although they are pissing me off lately as I try to order something and I'm having 'billing address issues').

You've really got to be careful if you don't know what you're doing, though, as there are a lot of fly-by-night photo stores and/or rackets out there.

I have purchased from both multiple times and both are fantastic, reputable stores that I wouldn't hesitate to deal with again.

That being said, my preference is to shop at B&H. Along with a bigger selection, I have also had dealings with their customer service department and have always been treated politely and any issue (whether it be on my part or theirs) has always been resolved promptly. Anything I order is always shipped and received very quickly and the items are packaged up in a way that I feel they are secure for transport, whereas my purchases through places like Amazon are sometimes in a too-large box with an inflated air pocket and that's it.

If you can find a better deal at one over the other, I'd say jump on it...you won't regret it.

I've spend several thousands of $$$ with them. Never had a problem.

Both solid for me too - I usually resort to Amazon more often than not for many purchases, but have used both B&H and Adorama in the past. Lately, even some Amazon orders I've noticed have been fulfilled by Adorama...so the lines are getting hazier! That said, I'd be confident ordering from any of these.
