Adorama Canon 60D Deal

That's a great price. I'm going to be mighty tempted in the coming weeks to replace my T2i. The 60D has a few features that would be an upgrade, but I'm thinking it has the same sensor.

Does anyone know if the 70D is supposed to have better high ISO performance? And has anyone heard an estimate of the price?

I'd expect to see it priced in line with where the XXD's have been starting price wise. $1200 for a kit... maybe $1500 since Canon has been bumping up their prices a little. That would put it just below the 6D body only, much like the 7D was to the 5DmkII. Because with the exception of ISO range (and IQ I'm sure) this camera has some features that outshine the 6D.

But it's still all rumors.

Thanks Danielle. I'll be anxious to hear the reviews when it's released next week.

I'm still trying to find out the reason Canon put only one cross type sensor on the 6D. If the 70D doesn't have a big improvement in ISO noise I see no reason to buy it over the 60D.

I expect the high ISO in JPG to be better on the 70D vs 60D for several reasons; all new APS-C sensor, Digic 5+ processor to better apply noise reduction algorithms as noted in higher native maximum ISO of 12,800 vs 6,400, etc if the rumoured spec list is true on CR.

Plus it has a new Live focus AF supposedly 5X faster than current if you want to use Liveview for video, etc. 19 cross points would also be a big step up from 60D which only has 9.

Rumoured specs look very close to current 7D (or some may even be better) so I'd expect a 7D2 soon. Main thing missing on the 60D vs 7D for me is micro autofocus adjustment to fine tune lens to body, not sure if this feature will be added back to 70D.

Looks like 70D is a big step up from 60D in rumoured specs - question is what will price be?

There's a lot of talk about the lack of cross type sensors on the 6D. People go on and on about how it cripples the AF system, makes it bad, and so on. I gotta say, as a 6D owner it doesn't make a big difference for me. The AF is generally faster and more accurate than my 50D which is all cross type. Tests show the 6D's AF falling between the 5DII and the 5DIII accuracy wise, which is right about where I'd rate it.

I expect the 70d to have a stop better iso from the 60d and a cleaner high iso range. The 7d af combined with the phase detect they have been refining for video make the 70d seem like a worthy companion to my lonely 5d iii. The af video and articulating screen seem like a great compliment to a fullframe. Just my thoughts. Wish they chose gps over wifi.

On the 6D the GPS drains the battery faster than wifi does. I tend to wonder if that was a factor. The wifi, when used with the EOS remote app, does let you post to Facebook on the go which can be fun (even if you shoot RAW). It's also great for when you're shooting on a tripod because it lets you do everything, including focus, with your smartphone or tablet.

I don't care about the GPS functions in cameras but it does looks like the 60D $500 blow out was to usher in the newly announced 70D
