Speaking as a mom to 2 adopted/rescued beagles and 1 mutt, CONGRATS. Beagles are wonderful, loving dogs.

What a cutie! Congratulations! My dad and I were talking the other day about what we would name a dog if we got a certain breed. Like for a husky or alaskan malamute it would be Klondike or something like that. I said that I have always wanted a beagle named Bagle. The funniest one we came up with, though, was a Lab/Dalmation mix and name him Dalmador. (get it? Dalm for dalmation and Ador for labrador).

In James Herriot's Favorite Dog Stories he talks about his Beagle, Sam, who spent many years accompanying him on his drives all over the Yorkshire countryside. I love that book, someone gave it to me for Christmas on CD and I was just listening to it in the car last night. His words about Sam brought a tear to my eye, he loved him so much! aw:
