My sister went to New Orleans a few weeks ago and worked voluntarily at a call center to help the people that were affected by the hurricane. She was there for a few weeks. She sat down with me and my family tonight and said this year instead of buying gifts within our family this year for Christmas, she would like to adopt a family in New Orleans through the organization that she went down there to volunteer with and give gifts to those families for Christmas. We all loved this idea of helping out families that need it so we are all doing it this year and hopefully will make many children smile during this difficult time. We plan on doing this for several families.
There is a guy that works with my boyfriend whose family is from NO and they lost their home.. He was able to move here and work for the company and we are planning on adopting them for Thanksgiving and Christmas.. They have one little boy.. It makes me realize how much we take for granted and makes me feel good to do something good for someone else
