After walking around & photographing more animals, I decided that I needed a break. I waited forever for a bus to the Poly. I spent a short time in the room, changed lenses & went over to MK.

I was starving, so I went right for Cosmic Ray's & got a veggie burger & fries.

IMG_1669.jpg

I don't remember them having so many toppings there- I was SO happy to see that. I added mustard, relish, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, and onions. I think I ate all of that in less than 5 minutes. I was starving! After eating my burger, I made my way over to HM to see the new queue area.

Thanks! I love that the bats eat mosquitoes. Now that fungus is wiping them out by the thousands. There is a definite noticeable increase in the number of mosquitoes out there this year. (At least there is at my house)

Thanks! I have always wanted to do the Backstage Safari tour, too. How was that??

We loved it! We had a really cool tour guide and it was nice too because on the day we did it there were only two other people in it. I don't want to spoil anything but you do get to see some really cool things backstage and it ends with a fun surprise. :) You should do it!

I'm joining in! I saw you on Lisa's board and when I saw the WAT in your subject I knew I had to read this :goodvibes

The WAT looks incredible, and I know I will definitely be doing that when I go next (hopefully next year). I take about as many pictures as you do, maybe more! I went to AK twice during my trip last November and went on Kilimanjaro Safari 5 times and took about 1000 pictures of just the animals. So, I love all of your pictures!

Oh, and I love bats too!

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip!

That sounds ike a definite possibilty for the next trip in November. Thanks!

:welcome: Thanks! I hope you do WAT- it was so awesome. I'm thinking of trying to do it again next year! By the way- I love the photo of your dog (your avatar)!

oh no....didn't realize a fungus was killing bats.....can anything be done to help?? do you know the name of the fungus? is it white-nose syndrome...that's what came up on a google search....how scary

It is the white nose syndrome. I read a bunch of articles about it- but nothing lately. I wish they would figure out what causes it. They say that they aren't sure if the fungus is a symptom of a virus or some other kind of infection or if the fungus is the killer. It's really sad.:sad2:

Awww, I hate to hear about the bats dying in your part of the country. We have a few that fly above our back yard in the evenings and wish we had more so that the mosquitos wouldn't be so darn bad.

DUDE, I LOVE your photos!!! You really captured a lot of the animals' personalities and unique facial expressions. Those bats are truly like tiny dogs w/ wings- I can't get over how they manage to get themselves airborne! I also thought the pics of the revamped HM queue were pretty awesome- however the Captain Culpepper 'overflowing' from his coffin was semi-disturbing! Haha!

Thanks, he is a cutie!

I meant to also say thanks for posting the pictures of the new HM que. It looks really nice!

I wish we had bats- I haven't seen any near our house in the past few years. Lately the mosquito situation has been terrible!

Thanks! I love animals, so most of the photos I took this time were at AK.
I love the new HM queue! It is one of my favorite attractions at MK, so to see something new there is cool.

Thanks, he is a cutie!

You're welcome! :thumbsup2 The HM queue is so much more fun than it used to be. I love it!

Notice that I'm on Tom Sawyer Island. I have never been there before- in 20-something trips- can you believe that? It was pretty crowded, but it was really cool to see something "new".

At this point, I was so hot & exhausted- I figured that I had better go to shower before dinner at Artist Point. I took the train from Frontierland to the Main Street station.

I showered, rested, & got dressed for dinner. I took a taxi to WL because I wasn't sure how long it would take otherwise. Some photos outside the lobby:

The ride to WL was really short! I had an angry driver- I think he was mad because he didn't feel like driving such a short distance. I took a few photos in the WL lobby, then headed right to Artist Point.

I had the Portobello soup as usual. I HATE mushrooms, but I love that soup. I have no idea how that works, but it is true. For an entree, I had the House-made Sweet Potato Gnocchi - with Brussels Sprouts, Wild Mushrooms, Caper Brown Butter, and Black Winter Truffles. It was AWESOME!

After that, I went back to the room to relax.

Yay for having made it over to Tom Sawyer Island. While there's not a whole lot to do over there, it's a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the park itself.

The pictures of the boat ride to the Polynesian as well as those of the resort are beautiful. We took the boat over to the Poly and it was so nice and relaxing.

I always get tickled when I hear you say that you hate mushrooms but love the mushroom soup at Artist Point. I don't know how that works either.

I've never been to Tom Sawyer Island either. I'll have to try it one of these days! And the Wilderness Lodge looks gorgeous in your photos. My cousin said its one of her favorite places to stay at Disney World.

Tom Sawyer's Island is one that I haven't done in a few trips. By the time we think about it, it's about time for them to close it down.

Great Poly pics! Ooh, and the food pics from WL, I looove mushrooms so both of those dishes would have been simply devine.:cloud9:
