Adobe Photoshop and CS

Thank you for responding. I think I will go with the Costco one. I am going to call the company today to ask them the difference in the two add on programs. Thanks, :goodvibes
Penny

I didn't find much on this on the Adobe site, but a search for onOne Essentials on Amazon brought up that stand alone program. From what they say there, "Essentials for Photoshop Elements is a collection of four tools to help you correct color, remove unwanted backgrounds, add creative borders and resize your photos to get a larger print."

I know that Adobe Premier/Premier Elements is primarily video software. While that type program can be used to create slideshows and such, the primary output is video. I use a similar program to create video for DVDs, capture and edit old home movies and create music and sound slideshows.

So as indicated in previous posts, if your interest is strictly working with photos, the Costco package sounds like it's what you want. If you have interest in working with video as well as the photos, then the Elements/Premier package is the way to go.

Hope that helps.

Ok, now it's back to the drawing board. My DH is trying to learn to edit Video. He bought a program for it, but hates computers, so he has not been doing well with it. Maybe if I bought the program for Videos, I could help my DH learn how to use it. THanks again, I will call today and order. Take care and thanks everyone for your advice and assistance. :goodvibes

Not sure if I'm too late on this, but keep in mind that, if you're running Windows, you have a free video editing program on the machine. Look for Windows Movie Maker. It does fine for basic video editing. It all depends on what he's trying to do.

He actually bought a program for video editing and hasn't been able to master it. He trying to do a few things. One - take the movies we take and put them together to put on a dvd and two - take old moview we have and pu them together on a dvd. He spent hours and hours before Christmas last year trying to copy movies and finally went out and bought a machine to make copies of dvd's because he was making a present for me and didn't want to ask me for help. :lmao:
Maybe I will stop at Costco and see if they have the package and if they don't then go with the other package from Adobe. That way I am letting the video powers to be make my decision? :goodvibes
Take care and thanks for your advice. Penny

He Bought (but hasn't mastered) Pinnacle Studio for Windows 10. :confused3 However, he and computers are not really on a speaking basis. :scared:
When the have an argument, the computer normally wins. :sad2:

also check out hidden power of photoshop elements for additional tools that makes elements better and easier to use.

ps nobody masters photoshop. If they say they have, they are lying!

there is always more to learn. So just try a few things, learn what you can and in a few months then a few years you will know more than you ever thought you could know.

Thanks for the link. I hopefully will get my new photoshop elements in the mail next week and for the next few months I will be driving everyone crazy experimenting. LOL
Thank you, Penny

For what it's worth I tried, and got frustrated with, Pinnacle a while back and I'm pretty computer saavy. It's not that it does things so totally different from other video programs, it just didn't click with me. I ended up using and liking Sony's Vegas software, but I wouldn't recommend your husband run out an purchase that based on one recommendation.

I think for someone who doesn't have a real good handle on computers, it would really help him to sit down and work with someone. Either look for a friend who does video editing that's willing to share some of their expertise or even see if a local store or community college offers classes. Anything that would give him a good idea of the workflow he should expect along with some hands on time with a program would go a long way to lowering his frustration level.

That is a good idea. I will see if they offer a video editing course in one of the local colleges. That would proably make more sense for him. We are buying a new lap top in January, so I will keep that in mind so the Lap Top will be his for pictures and video and mine for vaction. LOL
thanks again, Penny

Well, that's not nice of the computer.

I don't know what your needs are, if you are considering a new laptop maybe look at an Apple.

I don't have one but I hear good things about it when it comes down to videos and photos.

Everyone who has an apple, swears by them. :woohoo: The problem is his brother (the computer geek guru) is very Dell knowledgable (he's head of his Co's IT group and they all use Dells) and our 3 systems at home are Dells. At least now I can help him with some of the basics with Windows? SO much as I figure an Apple might make life easier, it just might make it harder for him. My goal this year is to become savy on photoshop elements and maybe that will help.
Thanks again, Penny

little late but I got the 6.0 with premier 4.0

I make dvd's every year for the family for christmas from the photos I shot all year long. put it to music and it is very nice. I stopped one year and i still have not heard the last of it.

Well if I was going to make DVD's for my family for Christmas I would have had to have started two years ago. :lmao:
Serioulsy, I am hoping to master the 6.0. Hopefully that will help me put together my Germany trip album for my girlfriends and I that we took 3 years ago. Thanks for advice, I will post how I make out mastering PhotoShop. Thanks, Penny

My question is, How many people are using the actual program photoshop and not the photshop elements? I hear people all the time say they have photoshop but it is only elements that they have. I was just curious.

I use photoshop elements 5. I would love to have the full version - someday. So many things I would love to have and not enough $ for all of it. :confused3

PS CS2
I started with elements 2.0

Mikeeee

I've got CS at home and at work I use CS2 and CS3 (depending on where I am working and what machine I am on.)

I have elements 4.0 but I am so use to full photoshops I cannot stand using elements.
