Hi! I was trying to add some text to a picture I have, and I got an error message telling me that it could not be done because of the error:
unexpected end-of-file was encountered.

Anyone know what this means? Could the original picture be somehow "protected" from editing?

Any tips will be most appreciated.

A quick search of Adobe website says in CS2 you can't open a file more than 2GB if they we re saved in Photoshop with no compression. I would assume some of the other programs work the same way. They have an update for CS2 that fixes this. You might go to the Adobe website and see if they have any solutions for your program.

Hope this helps.

DisneyMom,
Thanks but a question... what is CS2? I am so new to this Adobe 6 and you know... wanna run before I walk:rotfl2:
Thanks!

CS2 is a version of Photoshop. I think you are using Photoshop Elements 6, maybe? Adobe is the overall brand name, Photoshop is the program name, Elements and CS2 are qualifyers and 6 is the version. Kind of like Ford Mustang LE or whatever they might put behind the Mustang. Adobe = Ford in this example.

I have never seen the issue before but apparently it is quite common. Put the error message in the search window of www.adobe.com and see if you find something pertaining to your program.

Ok, so my version on Photoshop 6 was purchased a couple of months ago.
So the website doesn't seem to offer that update, could it already be glitch free? Maybe I need to troubleshoot the originating photo? Do you have any idea how to make a photo smaller so as not to get error message?

Thanks

Maybe if you have another photo editing program you could resize or reduce it in there? I don't really know. Paint usually comes with the computers. I think you could compress in there. To do that you would select save as, and then save as a jpeg file and select compression level.

Hope this helps.
