Can't decide between cat 3 & cat 4
I am traveling with my DH, DS 61/2 and DD 11mths next April. I have been researching both cat . 3 and cat.4. I just can't decide if the extra space is worth the money. This is the first time cruise for all of us. I know she will still be napping and on formula. Thought having the wet bar and vcr might be nice. Help!!! Any comments on these two catagories. Thanks Linda

I suppose the more appropriate question is is it worth taking the risk of being chucked off Disney property, like happens when they find out you've been dodging the price of a ticket?

If you can't afford Disney, it's simple, don't go. It doesn't justify what amounts to theft.

i can't believe some of you people. THANK YOU TO THE NICE PEOPLE WHO ANSWERED WITHOUT SARCASIM!!! to the rest of you, your acting like i am asking disney to cut me a check for $5000.00 for no reason. as to the poster that commented about my trip with two 7 yr olds, well for your info that was my son and half sister. my father paid for the whole thing, thats why i stayed at the gf, not that's any of your business. and as far as my cruise in 03, i did leave my daughter home at the end due to the cost. seriously, did you have to be so cruel. AGAIN, THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO COULD ANSWER NICELY, I ONLY ASKED A QUESTION.

Yes, but it was an ethical-type question, a highly :stir: question and you need to have a thick skin when you ask a question like this on a public forum. You WILL get all kinds of feedback.

And everyone remember this quote from a DIS moderator:

Just a reminder folks, advocating or instructing on how to violate Disney policy is a big DIS no no.

"If you can't afford Disney, it's simple, don't go. It doesn't justify what amounts to theft." Give me a break.

It would be nice if jumping all over someone for asking a question was a "big DIS no no," as well.

This question has been asked many times, and it always gets the same mix of responses. Yes it can be done with little to no chance of being caught. No it is technically not right, legally or morally. I've known people who are OK with it, and those who are not. It's up to you lijory. Weigh your options and do what is best for your family.

Bottom Line: Next time if you've got a controversial question, chances are its been asked before. Do a search to find the answer, its much safer! Whatever you do, don't ask about refillable cups!

Also the comment about leaving the child home, IMO was unecessary and hurtful. She even apologized for asking this question. Her tone was not "I'm gonna cheat Disney so there!" and I think she didn't need to be responded with sarcasm.

I think it WAS necessary. She asked a question that she already knew the answer to, and obviously only a BLUNT answer was going to drive home the point.

I hope you are as passionate and self-righteous about standing up for things that really matter.

So she either has a set of 9 year old twins or a 9 year old and a 3 year and 5 month. So she is not just over 3 but WAY OVER 3.

ETA I see the other 7 year old was a sibling.

How old were your kids before you started paying for them?

Me, my wife and 4 kids, ages 15 to 3 went to Florida last year and got Florida DL's and Fla ID and bought Fla season passes. We saved a boat load of money and I had my kids memorize their "new" Fla address. It was so easy, oh yeah I just renewed my Fla "resident" passes last week for another year of Disney fun.

P.S. We only stay at the Yacht Club with the generous Fla Res discounts and sleep 6 to a room. SHHHHHH don't rat me out!

To avoid all the hassle of guessing a child's age and relying on the judgement of the staff on the ticket booths a lot of the UK themeparks have changed to children under 1 metre (3ft 3in) get in free. There is a height measurement line on the ticket booth and if the child is below it they get free admission.
This works well because of the safety limits and height rules on rides, children under 1m have a smaller selection of rides available to them, whereas based on age a tall child may still of been able to ride all the rides but get in for free.

EXCELLENT POINT! I've been saying that for years. If ride eligibility is tied to size, not age, then why shouldn't ticketed admission be the same? I've seen plenty of 2 yr olds that are tall enough to ride on rides that shorter 4 yr olds cannot. Until Dis and others wise up, we'll have to abide by their silly rules.

Then people would just complain that their 2 year old is tall, but not mature enough to ride...can i bind his feet to make him shorter? Maybe teach him to scrunch his neck, and slouch...?

Okay, so right now (or by the end of October) the daughter is three AND A HALF years old - not 'just over' or 'just turned' three, but halfway to being four - and the OP doesn't even indicate when they're planning to visit. Options:
Go, and pay for the required ticket for EACH member of your party.
Go, and cheat the system. You admit this is what you're doing, and are apparently seeking approval here. You're not going to get it.
Go, but leave one person home.
Go, but only purchase ONE day tickets for each person and only spend ONE day in the ONE park you choose.
Go, WHEN YOU CAN AFFORD THE ENTIRE TRIP AS PLANNED.

To avoid all the hassle of guessing a child's age and relying on the judgement of the staff on the ticket booths a lot of the UK themeparks have changed to children under 1 metre (3ft 3in) get in free. There is a height measurement line on the ticket booth and if the child is below it they get free admission.
That's great in theory, and I'm sure it works fine where the height restriction is the same for all such restricted attractions - but if Disney or Universal were to try that, there'd be issues over Guests wanting/expecting reduced rates for children tall enough to ride some attractions but not others.
