Finally got to update here!

So first our adventure so far then pictures

I want to thank all that gave us well wishes for safe travels I really appreciate that and will try to go back and read all the chatter (I see that y'all have kept busy )

Flights were good had about 4 hours of sleep and watch Maverick on the second flight. Biometric screening done before boarding the 2nd flight from Houston to Cancun and e-gates for immigration in Cancun which were super fast

And...then we waited 90 mins for our luggage for whatever reason probably about 20 or so of us had issues with our luggage getting to us. Hoardes of peeps had theirs from a variety of flights but not us. We had a Tile tracker and it did work. Couldn't connect because it wasn't within range which told us our luggage wasn't near but when it was it showed up on the app. Then our pre-booked included with hotel transfer took more than an hour. Traffic with construction at the airport the issue but still wasn't a good experience. Got to check in right at 3pm or so. In-laws got their room perfectly fine (same category as us) but they oversold the room category and didn't have ours for the first night. We booked this resort in June of 2022 and it was noted that it was our 10th anniversary so not a good person to choose to bump. They did give us the wrist band that gives us the amenities of the adults only villas (separate pool, restaurant, Bali beds) plus a spa credit (two 50 mins massages) as compensation but we were still upset overall (and tired and cranky lol). In the midst of talking with the front desk my carry on was moved by the bell services away from our group and mixed in with someone else's. Thank goodness we noticed it. The room we got for the night was a downgrade (and cost less) but still fine overall. We were told because it was their fault we could stay in the room and not have to pack up before moving the next day, they said that about 10 times between 3 people. Well went to the beach yesterday and went back up to the room...keys deactivated . I'm sure it's automatically done but should have had a way to prevent that. At at breakfast my mother-in-law was asking a waitress for some orange juice at the breakfast buffet pointing to our table and a language barrier ensued and the waitress thought I had stolen their table so I was momentarily interrogated.

Got moved into our room in the afternoon yesterday and felt less stressed. Had a nice soak late last night on the jacuzzi tub on the balcony (one of the reasons we booked that particular category). Then as we were headed to the beach this morning tried to get into the safe...wouldn't open but it did sound like a low battery. Called down and they did get someone quick (about 10 mins) to replace the batteries. It was 8:30am so probably easy to find someone.

At this point it's a comedy of errors

Sister-in-law and her boyfriend are joining us starting today so we're hopeful they have an easier time at the airport.

Hopefully some 2 for 1 margaritas will do the trick, try a tamarind flavored one. We love tamarind so when we docked at Cozumel on our last cruise the kids went crazy buying all sorts of tamarind candies. Your pictures are wonderful! Hope you got all the bumps out of the way and it’s a wonderful rest of the trip!

I’ll be up to get mine! I have to do online check in for our flight to Tampa to at 6am too with southwest, not I’m going to have to multitask to get them both at the same time!! Is it just the regular Disney website and your DVC has to be linked or the DVC website where we purchase?

2. Typhoon Lagoon or Volcano Bay....and GO!
3. Convince me Hard Rock CL or Portofino CL?
4. Poll - CL or no CL at all at either Hard Rock or Portofino? (Edited for John)

In all seriousness, two through four are kind of real questions that I'm sorting through in my mind. Decisions, decisions.

Not meaning to offend anyone who does this, but it is like nails down the chalkboard when I see FB posts that say....and GO! Like we're all going to race to tell you what you should be able to figure out yourself to begin with anyway.

I agree I don’t know how anyone is going to change someone’s mind especially if it’s something they have already experienced.

I do prefer typhoon lagoon to blizzard beach, there’s a lot more shade. I don’t like the wave pool though it makes me feel like I’m going to drown when the waves hit and knock you over. My husband and kids however love it so I watch them sipping a daiquiri. We did the glow night last year and had a blast. They had the coolest bubble machine that was also a fog machine so the bubbles would get filled with fog and it would release when you popped them. I think we played with popping those bubbles for 20 minutes it was so fun.

I would agree though on Portofino over Hard Rock. It’s quieter and I like the quiet pool. Are you noticing a theme?

It's the only restaurant on property where I had REALLY bad food and service. You're better off going to Rainforest Cafe or Planet Hollywood. Don't get tricked by their admittedly good Happy Hour prices. That's how they get you.

We will never cheat on its neighbor the Hangar bar!! It’s our favorite.
