Finally got to update here!

So first our adventure so far then pictures :)

I want to thank all that gave us well wishes for safe travels I really appreciate that and will try to go back and read all the chatter (I see that y'all have kept busy 😀)

Flights were good had about 4 hours of sleep and watch Maverick on the second flight. Biometric screening done before boarding the 2nd flight from Houston to Cancun and e-gates for immigration in Cancun which were super fast

And...then we waited 90 mins for our luggage :( for whatever reason probably about 20 or so of us had issues with our luggage getting to us. Hoardes of peeps had theirs from a variety of flights but not us. We had a Tile tracker and it did work. Couldn't connect because it wasn't within range which told us our luggage wasn't near but when it was it showed up on the app. Then our pre-booked included with hotel transfer took more than an hour. Traffic with construction at the airport the issue but still wasn't a good experience. Got to check in right at 3pm or so. In-laws got their room perfectly fine (same category as us) but they oversold the room category and didn't have ours for the first night. We booked this resort in June of 2022 and it was noted that it was our 10th anniversary so not a good person to choose to bump. They did give us the wrist band that gives us the amenities of the adults only villas (separate pool, restaurant, Bali beds) plus a spa credit (two 50 mins massages) as compensation but we were still upset overall (and tired and cranky lol). In the midst of talking with the front desk my carry on was moved by the bell services away from our group and mixed in with someone else's. Thank goodness we noticed it. The room we got for the night was a downgrade (and cost less) but still fine overall. We were told because it was their fault we could stay in the room and not have to pack up before moving the next day, they said that about 10 times between 3 people. Well went to the beach yesterday and went back up to the room...keys deactivated 🙄. I'm sure it's automatically done but should have had a way to prevent that. At at breakfast my mother-in-law was asking a waitress for some orange juice at the breakfast buffet pointing to our table and a language barrier ensued and the waitress thought I had stolen their table so I was momentarily interrogated.

Got moved into our room in the afternoon yesterday and felt less stressed. Had a nice soak late last night on the jacuzzi tub on the balcony (one of the reasons we booked that particular category). Then as we were headed to the beach this morning tried to get into the safe...wouldn't open but it did sound like a low battery. Called down and they did get someone quick (about 10 mins) to replace the batteries. It was 8:30am so probably easy to find someone.

At this point it's a comedy of errors 🤣

Sister-in-law and her boyfriend are joining us starting today so we're hopeful they have an easier time at the airport.

I'm sorry about the bumpy start to your trip! I've had issues like that with flying (1 hour+ wait for bags and transport to hotel taking a long time) so I totally get it. That room situation stinks but looks like you're making the best of it. Great pics! Wish I was there but I'm working and I'm starting to get sick :L
Thank you! The 1 hour part was just waiting at the airport for a transport to become available, transit was about 25 or so mins to our hotel (north part of hotel zone) even with a few stops (starting at the south part) for other hotels so not bad overall. We actually landed early but ended up hours behind with all the delays. But it's behind us now :)

Positive is the ocean is wonderful such a beautiful aqua color, sargassum low (and they do actively take care of it), ocean temp perfect once you get used to it lol so now we relax. This thread is so active I'll be done with the vacay before I catch up haha but totally enjoying it

Eta: sorry I didn't catch that you were starting to get sick! Aw that's a bummer hope you feel better quickly enough :flower3:
 
Catching up on almost two days worth of posts!!

I also wish they could give Rapunzel something other than bathrooms. Tangled is my favorite Disney movie, and its "big" presence in the parks is literally a poop hole 😂 My girl deserves RESPECT.

You know the bit in "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" where all the other kids are like "I got a quarter," "I got chocolate" and Charlie goes "I got a rock"? Someone on Tiktok paired that audio with Cinderella Castle, Be Our Guest, Journey of the Little Mermaid and then for "I got a rock" ... the Tangled toilets.

Great pictures click. In honor of the OP of this thread one of you should have dressed up at Belle and the other as Nemo. You would have to get someone else to stand in for the Beast.

Lol that would have been great! On a Disney topic, this morning in the elevator there was a family checking out and the little girl probably about 4 or 5 had the most adorable Minnie bow on her head, she was so excited to show it off to us so sweet 😍
