We are 2 famillies planning a trip to WDW next March : how do we go about requesting adjoining rooms ? Can we book online and ask for adjoining rooms at check in or we have to do it over the phone ?
Thank you

I know it is not sure we will get communicating rooms.

D o want adjoining( near each other), or connecting ( with an inner door between them). They are very different.
Rooms are assigned about 5 days in advance so it is best to call the Main Reservation line and make the request. State “ Traveling with... and give the a Confirmation number of each room.
it is ONLY A REQUEST. Requests far exceed demand for connecting rooms. They will try their best

The best way is to call at least a week before check in and have the request placed on both reservations, along with a “traveling with” notation on both reservations.

BTW if you want rooms with a connecting door between them, ask for connecting rooms. To Disney, “adjoining“ means “next to” or “close to.”

Thank you both for the quick answers. We want inner communicating doors, less noisy than outside ones.

Although there is absolutely no reason to wait until then. Requests can be made as early as the same time the reservation is made.

Where are you staying? All Value and Moderate rooms open to the outside. The connecting doors are inside the rooms on the same wall. Ditto for connecting rooms at Deluxe resorts, the difference being that each room opens to an inside corridor.

We are staying at the All-Star Sport.
And we can make the request online when we book ? Or we need to call after ?

Call.
Also know that "adjoining" just means near each other.
If you want rooms that have a door that connects them you need to request "connecting" rooms.
And note that its a request so they will try but there are no guarantees.

We have requested connecting rooms several times and never had any issues getting our request. We always let them know we were willing to wait for a room.

When you make the initial reservation there is an opportunity to provide information for a "traveling with" party. I did this on our trip last week (when we booked). I also included on my room request fax with Touring Plans that I wanted a room either connecting or adjoining, to the party.
We got rooms next door to each other

Huh? What is an "inner communicating" door? I've never heard of such a thing and can't for the life of me figure out what you mean. Or how it relates to an outside one

Or wait, is it an autocorrect and you mean inner connecting door. If so, I'm not sure what an outside one is or how they would be more noisy. All connecting doors are inside. There's no such thing as an outside connecting room. Well, I guess they are, they are just next door to each other rooms (adjoining) and they are LESS noisy, not more.
