Adhd

His appetite is not great but is a lot better on the patch. My DS was the same way after breakfast. He's a HUGE breakfast eater (like I'm talking 7 pankcakes!). On the concerta, he would not eat much for lunch or dinner. We have seen his appetite increase on the Daytrana. Maybe because as soon as he gets home from school, we have him take the patch off so the medicine starts to work it's way out of his system. He usually has a healthy appetite for dinner and has a nice snack before bed! :thumbsup2 Here's the crazy part. He tells us he actually likes the way the Daytrana makes him feel. He says it helps him stay focused at school and helps him concentrate and that it doesn't make him sad like the concerta did. We even give it to him on the weekends which we never did with the concerta.
:thumbsup2 I'm definitely going to talk to my DS's Dr. about this.

I'm glad to hear the good news about your son...if he's anything like mine, he's a bundle of energy but sweet to the core!

Thanks! And yep our DS definitely has lots of energy but has a heart of gold!

Your kids are adorable by the way!

Let me know what your doctor says. And please feel free to pm me anytime if you ever have any questions. We started our son out on the lowest dose and had to play around with the doseage until we finally found what worked.

My ds has been on Concerta for about 6 yrs now. We've increased it over the years as he's aged, but it works great for him. Over the years we've tried him without meds during breaks or weekends, but he would get so distracted by things that for his own safety (ex during soccer games) we kept him to it full time. He does take Clonadin (sp?) to help him relax to sleep at night. His appetite goes up & down with the Concerta. He's been on it long enough for him to have evened out. We did try him on Straterra for a while. OMG it was horrible. His moods were so rotten and he became such a flip child. He also immediately began packing on weight.

My niece is also on Concerta which is working very well for her. She has successfully been Adarel too. For a time she was on Straterra and had the same problems as my ds. She really packed on weight with that & it all seemed to be around her heart.

Good luck to you with your ds. I would definetly switch medicines if you still feel he needs some. You did say he had been diagnosed so keep a close eye on it.

The "ritalins" of today are not the same ritalins that were out when I was younger. My brother (niece's dad) resisted putting her on meds for such a long time because of what he went through, but he is finally able to see a big difference with her.
