Anyone dealt with this? How about a Laproscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy? I am in pain and have some decisions to make!

Thanks...
Jess

I'm pretty sure that's the diagnosis my doctor gave me after I had my hysterctomy last year. I ended up having the DaVinci robotic procedure done which is laproscopic. I did great except that my allergies went haywire. I think they tilt the table so that your head is below your feet, and being in that position for a few hours made my sinuses go nutso. Other than that, I had very little pain from the surgery and about 3 or 4 small (less than 1") scars.

I got a lot of good advice on the hystersister website. Good luck with your decision making! I dont regret having my surgery done and I feel so much better.

That was my diagnosis as well. Had a hysterectomy about 18 months ago. I basically traded one set of problems for a different set of problems. No more horrific bleeding and pain, but now I don't sleep well EVER, and I'm having hot flashes (left one ovary in, and that was supposed to keep my hormones where they ought to be, but it hasn't. I had to start HRT about 5 months after the surgery). I don't know whether I would have decided to have the surgery when I did if I'd known how I would react. I didn't even know the sleep problems could happen!

Anyway, as worried as I was leading up to the surgery, it wasn't a big deal for me. Recovery was a LOT easier than I expected.

PM me if you have questions. BTW, I was 41 when I had the surgery.

My doctor is going to leave both ovaries and my cervix to help avoid other problems (unless, of course, there are any issues that he sees when he does the surgery).

That was my diagnosis. I also had extensive fibroid tumors. I had a complete hysterectomy. It was done with the laparoscopic procedure.

Prior to the surgery, I was in constant pain and suffered from extensive bleeding. After the surgery, no pain! It was the best thing I ever did.

I had it and it was the worst pain I've ever experienced. Best wishes to you. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.

I had the abdominal hyst done and I was felling good after 2 weeks but was not supposed to drive for 6 weeks. They left both my ovaries in and aside from some cysts in the ovaries for a while, I have had no issues. It really was the best decision made.

I could not have the laproscopic or vag hyst done due to cancer cells.

Here is a good site for info - http://www.hystersisters.com/
