does everyone hire a calligrapher? my handwriting is like a 5 yr olds...i don't want to do them on the computer, or is that ok?

My mom is planning on taking a calligraphy class at JoAnn's. You might want to check into something like this as an option. The class is only $25.

I thought printing them out was a no-no, but then a friend pointed out that my handwriting is atrocious and having unreadable addresses is even more of a no-no.:rotfl: I found some very chic label templates on MarthaStewart.com that I'm using. If labels are good enough for Martha, they're good enough for me! :thumbsup2

I am planning on using my printer - but not with labels - i am going to run each envelope through my printer. If this does not work I will do nice labels.

I'm printing mine in Waltograph font (the Disney font) so thats my excuse to type them... that way it's Disney themed and looks cute, so it takes away from the fact that they're not hand written.

I'm running the envelopes thru my printer also.

what an excellent idea! i just went on martha.com, those are the same labels that are in her wedding magazine this month and they are fantastic. my handwriting is horrible as well, and i can't find a caligrapher in houston who isn't already booked because of the holidays!!! thanks for the idea!

We just mailed our invitations Saturday morning. My handwriting isn't bad, but since I'm a 2nd grade teacher... I am used to printing and not writing in cursive! I'm also a lefty so writing straight isn't an option for me! I elected to print our addresses directly on the invitations. I discovered a few 21st Century "etiquette" tips though:

-- It was suggested that you print directly on the envelope instead of on a label. I assume this meant on a regular white address label.

-- Print the recipient's address on the front, the return address should be printed on the back flap. That was a pain, but it looked much nicer.

I suppose you would follow all the regular etiquette from this point.

We used Impressions for our invitations, and used their addressing service as well. They printed the addresses directly on the envelopes. I would recommend that rather than using labels, but that's just my personal preference...

But these labels are sooooo cute! Please can I have them? :rotfl:

i know i know!!! i totally love them! i know that labels are taboo, but these are fantastic!!! i'm going to make my own template though...i already have return addresses on my labels, so i'm going to put our monogram on the back side...

I must be the only one who doesnt like them. They just dont seem very "Martha" to me. I expected them to have some fancy calligraphy font or something :(

We put both envelopes (inner and outer) through the printer with a very hand-written script font (scriptina I believe). Some people thought they were actually hand written (it was hard to tell since we used a laser printer).

Here's how the Martha Stewart labels turned out. Me likey!
