Address Swap Info Thread

Ok we are getting very confused in the ABC swap so lets discuss options for the address swap here and I'll post a swap signup either tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning.

Here are a couple questions we have so far:

1. Do we want to do rolodex cards or business cards or designers choice?

2. Are we planning on sorting by DIS name or real name? (I'm leaning towards DIS name since thats what I would go looking for with everyone)

3. Do we need to limit swappers? (I'm thinking no on this one since it would be useful to everyone but we'll see what the numbers are looking like during signups.)

I've had another concern raised about sending our addresses out to complete newbies. Is there a preference of how active in swaps a person needs to be to participate? I don't want to exculde people but I can see the concern and it will be easier to decide something ahead of time before people start creating.

If you don't feel comfortable sharing your info with a particular person then maybe just ask Jenny to not send a card in. Jenny I'm sorry if that would create more work for you but I can't really think of a better solution. I'll sit on it some more for a bit.

I suggeted to Jenny that maybe she could PM a list of the people involved to each person and if they want to make requests regarding continuing in the swap or special requests regarding sening their cards that they could do so at that point.

As far as the phone numbers, maybe you could leave a space so that people who do already have others' phone numbers can add them in themselves once they receive them. Or they could always put them on the back.

I'm leaning towards tomorrow afternoon once I get off work. Of course if I stay on here like I am today it could be earlier. LOL I will go through this and the other thread and get everyone added that has expressed interest so far.

Ok I keep forgetting to ask what is a good time frame for everyone? If we want them in before the postage goes up then I'll need them to me by 7th so that I can swap them out and mail that week before the 14th. With the postage time restraint I won't be able to hold them late

Whenever is fine with me... (listen to me say this as I haven't started any swaps this week!).. really, any time is fine.. I'm going to be working on swaps tomorrow and the rest of April anyway!!!

It doesn't really matter to me if it is before or after the postage hike. I think it will depend on how many people sign up. If it's a ton then we could be filling out addys for weeks.

What if we did them with the same due date? That way they should be returning to everyone about the same time? That would mean some additional postage required but depending on the number of people these shouldn't be that heavy.

I agree with everyone (don't I always? ). Choice--DIS name--open to previous swappers.

I'm not sure who said it (I think it was YodasMom or NEE), but I like the idea of leaving a space for the Phone Number where people could write it in on the ones they want/need to.

Whatever on the due date works for me, too. Nancy, I'm right with you. I haven't started my MGM swap (which I'm hosting!!), not to mention your meet and greet, or the rolodex. I've got to get on the ball!!

I think it would be safe for jennyL to just start the sign ups with all the people who already posted on this thread.
