Addonitis Question

We just got back from SSR and absolutely LOVED it and we are having serious addonitis. Does anyone know for sure what the current promotions are for both SSR and AKL? We went to the DVC preview center to talk with someone but our daughter wasn't having any of that. ;-) We're thinking of adding enough points to stay at a 1 bedroom a couple of times a year. Any opinion as to whether it would be better to add on now or wait until a new promotion comes along? Any help you can give me would be great!

i talked to my guide on saturday. Basically for current members, they are offering $10/pt discount, so basically $91/pt also there are no closing costs and you can use these points this current use year. also, the increase in your dues will not take affect till i believe next march. this is what he told me anyway.

we are going to add on at least 50 more. we currently finance but after we get these points we might put them on a low intrest credit card

Yep $91 per point but that's for a minimum of 50 points. We just added on

I believe AKL is $104 per point $94 with discount (minimum 100 points) but don't quote me on that.

The promotions for cutrrent members are:
101 for SSR -10 if you buy 50 or more points and you get the 2006 points so long as you purcahse before your use year and they can be banked
101 for AKV -8 if you buy 100 or more points
there is no closing on either
the promotion runs until early June I think the 10th but I would call your guide to confirm then ?????? but we do know the price will be 104 without any promotions

We are planning on adding 50 points at SSR (we have an Aug UY) and our guide said we will not pay dues on the 2006 points we will receive, but we will pay a pro-rated amount on the 2007 points. He said we would see the increased dues deducted beginning this July. So to the OP, check with your guide on that since there are conflicting stories.

Also, the deadline is June 4th. The mailing I received from DVC says the prices will increase on June 5th.

Sorry to add to my barrage of questions but I'm wondering how often promotions like these run. Like, would it be better to go ahead and purchase now or hold out for a better deal so to speak later? Any insight?

We added 2x during the past 2 years. The $10 thing is always the same, but depends on the actual point cost (ie: $101 or $104). We did get the cool free AP's 1 and a half years ago when we added, that was great...but nothing like that has come around during the past year.

They typically run promotions each year but the bottom line the prices are heading higher, not lower each year. If you love DVC and know you want to own, I would do it now. Plus, by buying now you can end the "thinking about" it process and start enjoying the magic.

I agree 100%!!! I wish we would've spent less time "thinking about it" and more time doing it. We're very happy owners now though and loving every minute of it.

Has anyone ever looked into a cure for addonitis? I mean - I'm not interested in a cure, right now, but I can imagine. . . If somebody had a serious affliction, and couldn't afford to deal with it properly, is there any help out there?

We just got back from OKW & have decided to do another add-on. We were going back & forth between OKW & SSR but $91 is a horse of a different color! Our UY is April so no 2006 pts for us but... 2007 is already booked so we'd be banking into '08 anyway.

Our guide is off Sun & Mon... the suspense is kiling me!

We called our guide directly and set-up our latest add-on. If you don't remember their number, then call MS and push 1 for "general inquiries" and they can probably connect you.

It is definately 50 points for SSR. We just added on 50 there and we got the discount. I'm not sure about AKV. Maybe someone who owns there could say for sure.
