Additional Fastpasses (DVC Tour)- How do they work?

So, my fastpass success rate for our long weekend in October has been very very very low. So we received an advertisement about DVC tour and getting 3 additional fastpasses for each member of our party.

Since I wasn't able to make fastpass reservations for Slinky-Dog Coaster or Avatar I was considering scheduling a tour. Before I do .... how does the additional fast pass work? I thought someone had told me/I read somewhere that you just get in any fastpass line at any time and scan your magic band - and presto instant fastpass.

However if this just gives you an additional fastpass to reserve - it won't help me at all since all of the reservations are gone for the 2 rides we really want....

I think they sometimes have restrictions on new attractions. Below are a couple of more recent threads. Not sure if anyone has the more recent restrictions listed for the new TS land.

There are restrictions. These do include Slinky Dog, Alien Saucers,TSMM, FOP, FEA, Seven dwarfs mine train, Navi
There might be others but for sure those are not ones you can use anytime FPs on

Yes you do just get in line and scan them but NOT on the restricted rides

Don’t do the tour just for the fastpasses. That could be a very expensive fastpass. DVC is a very compelling timeshare.
