Adding up to blue card

Just real quick. I’m buying my first contract. A resale. I would like to eventually get the blue card. Can I buy chunks of points here and there or does it have to be 125 at once? Thank y’all in advance!!

Current rules are 125 direct. No resale will qualify, unless you inherit/gratuitous transfer a grandfathered one, with current rules.

Blue Card rules could change to any number of direct or resale points, or blue card could be totally eliminated.

That’s what I’m asking tho. I know I need 125 direct points. Can I buy them in chunks of say 50 or buy the 125 at one sitting.

As of today, yes, you can buy them in multiple contracts. Who knows what future rules will be, or if there even will be a blue card.

Yeah I get things change. I’ve been keeping up with the rise of points needed. I don’t want to wait to much longer but I thought well I’ll get there eventually with it. And hopefully it won’t be gone by then lol

To answer your question, yes it can be done in chunks. I got my blue card with 75 SSR and then added 50 BLT a month later. Zero regrets so far.

Awesome I would love to have my points already so I can say the same lol. I’m happy and haven’t got nothing yet. Can’t wait for us to plan our first trip later this year or next.

Ok so I have a question kind of in the same area but not. I am in the process of a resale and was going to add on small chucks of direct. My question is, I know that I cannot use the resale points at the new hotels including Riveria however, if I buy direct, can I transfer my resale points to my direct contract to book at the Riveria? I too would like the blue card and the ability of the newer hotels as you just never know what the future holds and I figure splitting the difference between having resale and direct points is the best value for me. It gets me the number of points I need at an overall price I am comfortable with as well as "blue card benefits". I just didn't know and couldn't find it anywhere if I could transfer resale point to a direct contract to have more points to use at Rivera, etc. TIA ;)

I'm no expert (yet), but I believe because each contract is a separately titled real estate holding, the points cannot be "combined" into a single resort. You can use points from multiple contracts to make a reservation at the seven month window, but only home resort points may be used to make an eleven month reservation at the home resort.

that’s a good question I’d like to know that one as well!

But could I use the resale points to stay at riviera?
My understanfing is no, you cannot. Disney is so restrictive on resale use at Riviera, that you can't use ANY outside points at the resort, regardless of origin, and that conversely, Riviera points sold on the resale market can ONLY be used at Riviera.

So I feel like it doesn’t really matter. Perdí el opinion. I love riviera so I would buy 125 there. Stay however long. I can use those 125 with my other points to stay anywhere else combined at 7 months. True?

You would be able to combine at any of the current resorts at 7 months. Any future resorts that carry the same resale restrictions would not qualify and you could only use your direct points.

No. Points maintain their home resort and all restrictions even when transferred.

The reason why I purchase direct points in addition to my resale is so I have access to Riviera and any future built resorts such as Disneyland Tower. You don’t have to buy Riviera to stay there but I do have to wait to book at 7 months with my SSR direct points. I also like having plenty of resale points to book at the other 14 resorts at 7 months. I didn’t want to buy Riviera because of the resale restrictions but staying there for the first time in June so we’ll see if I fall in love with the resort.
