Adding tickets or pin - have to rebook?

I had booked the Spring "room only" 30% discount online and didn't add tickets or dining because I hoped I would receive a pin. Last night I called to add those (no pin, same discount) and he had to cancel my reservation, refund my deposit and rebook the whole thing. My question is - is that standard? Also if I receive a pin or free dining comes out, now that I've made payments on the vacation (more than deposit) can I change it without rebooking?

It's standard when moving from a room only res to a package res, has nothing to do with the actual promotion. Room only and packages are in different Disney systems and even deposits can't be moved between them.

In the beginning you could have booked the room only rate promo as a package with tickets and/or dining too, but just the room part would be discounted. Then you could have applied PIN codes or other promos without having to cancel and rebook.

wow.....suprised you got to keep the 30% room only discount after changing to pkg. I was told by a few people that once that discount res got cancelled then the discount wasnt applicable.

This exactly what i want to do. im not worried about the deposit refund being applied. I just want to be able to keep discount room only code.....ill get my $200 back im sure...

Not planning for a May 2013 Free dining offer as they normally dont give free dining that time of yr. But really want to pay less than full rack rate for May 2013 with DxDDP and park hoppers for 4 adults at POFQ.....

I booked my 30% off PIN as a Room Only online when the offer arrived in the mail. I called to change to package. They cancelled the room only and refunded the one night to my credit card. They had me put down $200.00 on the package. The new package is called a Magic Your Way Pinned Offer. The 30% discount is still there, it just is in the form of a package. It was a fairly easy and friendly process.

so if i book as soon as pkgs are available(aug 2012) and a discount comes out i cant apply the discount BUT IF i wait and book a discounted room for MAY 2013 if a discount comes out for room only(prob after pkgs come out in Aug) then i can call and book a discount and upgrade to pkg????discount would still apply to the room portion?


How would all this work out if i called and got a room only res now w/ no discounts and want to upgrade to pkg before arrival? can i cancell,,,,,then new res w/ discount.........add on tix and dining then or ???


I always figure that discounts are to fill up whats left at that time of offer........we dont want any other resort than POFQ and everyone is afraid to wait to pull trigger. Been told that promos are for usually a specific number of rooms at selected resorts and even if the resort is not full if the number of promo rooms is filled then no more at that resort..

the kicker is that not even sure if discounts are even a normal for First week in May.....and yes it has to be May4-11 2013 fri-fri.

Assuming there are no restrictions on your discount, I don't see why not. There are so many promotions with WDW it is always good to know the fine print in case you want to make any changes. HTH.
