Can the dining plan be added to your room-only reservation at check in or MUST it be added before you leave?

You can only get the dining plan as part of a MYW package. You can not add it to a room only reservation. You would have to convert the reservation to a package in order to get the dining plan.

The only exception is if you are staying at a DVC resort on points. Then you can add the dining plan without a package prior to arrival (has to be at least 5 days before arrival.)

Thanks! I thought this was so, but I wanted to make sure. I will add now. :)

I've heard five days before and three days before, but either way, definitely NOT at check-in. It has be arranged before-hand.

not necessarily true....we checked in at BWV on rented points two weeks ago, and the girl checking us in did not see the dining plan on our reservation, but let us add it and pay for it right there.

Strange, given how many folks haven't been able to do so. Maybe we DVCers are special? :)

DVC members can add or remove the dining plan anytime before they check in. When the CM pulled up your reservation for check in, she noticed that the DDP was not added. As long as she didn't start the check in process, the DDP could be added. DVC members pay for the DDP at check in.

As for regular reservations the DDP is part of a package and must be paid for ahead of time.
