Adding points from Disney

Hi,

If you buy a BCV resell I think I understand you can buy points in 25 to 50 increments depending on cash or financing on a waiting list from Disney. Do the points get "added" to your original contract or do you have two seperate interests and deeds? My thinking is that if I bought a BCV resell I would buy 150 points-it would take about year for me to pay off-but then next year I would try to buy 25 point cash contracts off the waiting list at Disney. It makes a difference in my planning because if I bought 25 point contracts every year for 6 years I would not want 7 total contracts-that would get too confusing. In the long run I would like 300 points, but with my smaller family now I can live with adding on as needed rather than spending 25000 at once.

If you buy the add on contracts directly from Disney, you will get the same use year and the add on contracts will be added to your original contract. For all practical purposes, it will operate as though you have one contract.

Since BCV is a sold out resort, you may have to wait for points in your use year to become available. Disney does not necessarily "keep points in stock". But it sounds like you already know that. That's the only disadvantage that I can see to your plan.

If you add on thru Disney you can get the same use year.

Also NO closing costs.

Just did this last month.

If you need a guide - our guide is Jim McCoy he is the BEST !

Not sure if you are an existing member or not but in case you are not....don't forget that when buying direct from Disney for a new owner, there is a minimum number of pts. that you must purchase; 150, I believe. Then add ons can be any amount over 25, I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

We purchased our first 50 pt. contract resale just to get in the system. Then we added on 50 pts. thru Disney to avoid that 150 minimum. We also had no closing costs on the addon since we were then members.

The pts. will be treated as one contract as long as they have the same UY. When and if you sell, they will be separate smaller contracts, which are easier to sell and usually get more per point.

Minimum new purchase thru DVC directly is presently set at 160 points - especially for the sold out resorts (there has been an incentive at AKV of 100 point minimum, but I'm unsure if that is still in effect). For the sold out resorts, there has been no closing cost for direct purchases.

The minimum add-on is 25 points - 50 if using DVC financing.

What happens if you add-on points for another resort, same use year? Is the member number still the same?
If i wanted to combine the points, would i have to conduct a transfer?
We have a small BWV contract and are planning to add-on 25 pts for the BLT and 25 pts for GCV, or 50 points at one location. Just trying to figure out the pros/cons of either option.
We live on the west coast, so could see putting together a couple of trips to CA, which could be planned as little as 2 weeks out. However our trips to FL will be planned well in advance.
Opinions are appreciated, THANK YOU!
Mike

If you add-on points at a second resort, the points from each specific resort may be used for reservations at 11 months and all of the points in the contract (the sum of points owned at ALL resorts) may be used at 7 months. You will not need to transfer any points since they are already in the same contract and making reservations at 7 months is very simple.

The member number will be the same.

Enjoy! :)

I have 3 add-on's to my master contract...it is true that I can use the points all together--but they are shown on the member website as four separate contracts...same master number, but w/a .01, .02, .03 after the master number...

MFs are accounted for separately, but my monthly payment is just one payment (they combine the four MF totals I owe and draft just once from my checking account each month)...and when I borrow points (which I do regularly), they ask me which of the four contracts I want the points borrowed from...the member website does not show usage of 415 points (my total number), but rather usage from the 150-point master contract, the 100 point add-on, etc.

This is true even with two of the add-ons being at the same resort as the master (the 4th is at a different resort)...

So, it's not as "separate" (particularly w/respect to your ability to use your points) as with separate master contracts (different numbers/different use years), but DVC DOES account for the points in each add-on separately from the master...

If you do an add on, do you have to do the whole notary process again? The person I used for our first purchase was free, but she has moved to a different job. I would have to find a new one, so I am just thinking ahead.

The notary is usually only needed if you are financing the purchase. If you are buying less than 50 points DVC doesn't provide financing but 50 points or more can get financing thru DVC.

Hi, FYI where we live most banks have a notary and if it is the bank you deal with it is free. They are really not hard to find free.

We just bought BCV and will be adding on thru DVC. When we get to our desired level, we will start accumulating points at another property, probably WLV. Will we get the same UY as our BCV contract automatically from DVC or can we choose our UY since it is a different property? Also, as it will be a different property, will we have a new membership number, card, etc. or just a new contract number?

Membership numbers are tied to UY. We have two contracts at two different resorts with two different UY. We have two membership numbers which results in two Blue Membership Cards.

The same UY and different resorts are suppose to be able to go on the same membership number.

Ifk you buy less than the 160 needed to create a new master contract you will get the same UY as the BCV points and the member number will be the same with a different decimal number at the end to identify it.
