adding person to excursion

We're a party of 4 and I found an excursion we would like but it only had 3 spots, so I got them (kicker: a couple of weeks ago, same excursion had just 1 spot and I grabbed it at the moment, then later dropped it for something that had room for all of us). Hopefully another spot will open up, but if it does and I book it, will the system recognize that we're a party of 4 and not 3 + 1?

When you select an excursion, they ask who you are booking for. By name. You won't be able to select all 4 names on the list if there are only 3 slots available.

Just re-read your question. As long as all 4 people have a reservation, it wouldn't matter that they were reserved 3+1 or all 4 at once.
