adding people to the reservation

Is it better to book a trip for two and add two people later if they decide to go - or is it better to book a trip for four and remove two people if they can't go?

My sister and her son might join us on our trip in October, but they won't know for sure until June.... I'm wondering which is easier to change...

also, I assume I should mk our ADRs for four just in case they are coming... they are about 75% sure they are coming - but she has to get her custody schedule before she knows for certain..

I guess you would have to change the ADRs. I only do CS, so not sure.

As far as the room, I routinely add our adult sons at check-in with no issue every. I never know if one or both of them are going until the last minute.

That's what I'm worried about... she and her ex-husband still haven't compeltely settled on their custody schedule... and with joint custody and all that mess, I'm worried that last minute they could have to bow out... I'd much rather add them last minute to the room. Can I still add them to my ADRs? I might go ahead and pay for the MNSSHP tickets so those don't sell out.

If it were me, I would make the reservations for 4 and change it if they can't come. Especially any hard to get dining reservations.

I would make ressies for 4... but remember I think that they charge you extra for more than 2 adults in a room. I'm sure you'd be reimbursed that extra charge if they cannot come.

First the easy part - dining reservations - make them for the maximum number of people who may be coming. It's much easier to show up with fewer people at the restaurant than to try and add them later, especially at the more popular places which often book up very quickly. Except for a prepaid res (CRT or dinner shows) you can just show up at the restaurant and tell the CM that there are only 2 of you. For the prepaid shows you'll want to call with the correct number of people and have their cost refunded.

Resort reservation - will you be doing a package (room + tickets + dining)? If you're doing a package reservation there are some things to consider. With a package any changes made within 45 days of your arrival date will incur a $50 change penalty if the total price of the package goes down (e.g. dropping people from the res). This fee is waived if your package price increases within the 45 day window (e.g. adding people), but the additional total amount will be due immediately. There's no change fee for any changes made before the 45 day deadline.

When we had one person in our group who wasn't sure if he could go or not, we opted to wait because it would be easier to add him to our resort package within the 45 day window than take him off the res. I know you said you'll probably know in June, but you never know for certain.

You can add people even after you check in as one PP mentioned. There's no problem if it's a room only res because you'll only have to pay the additional adult fee if it means there are 3 or more adults (18 years or older) in the room. If it's a package reservation adding anyone within 3 days of arrival or after arrival means they will not have tickets and dining that are part of your package.

AWESOME!! Exactly the info I was looking for. We'll inlcude them on the ADRs, and maybe wait until a few weeks before to add them.

Okay, we'll now I'm thinking of adding them to the room reservation now instead of later... There are talks of the ticket prices going up March 1st and I'd rather lock in the current prices now...

But as long as I take them off before 45 days (if they can't go) there will not be a charge?
