Adding people onto a reservation for one day

We recently rented dvc points and added on my son's family so they could visit us at the resort and use the pools.

Would we be able to do something similar for a reservation we have at Grand Floridian that was booked directly through Disney?
Would adding two adults add to the cost?
If there is extra cost, could we add them on for just one night?

They live locally so would actually head home to sleep as it is easier with their baby.

I have not heard of adding day guests before.
Do they have a charge for that?
That would be perfect for our situation if it's possible to do so.

There are times you can ask if a guest who is not staying can use the pool. It's not a guarantee and the deluxe resorts are the toughest to get. You can try and if they say no, then add them.

You also can’t go over the occupancy limits of the room. So depending on how large your son’s family is, you may not be able to add them. The additional adult fee does not apply to reservations made through dvc points
