Adding park hopper to older Canadian resident tickets

Hi

We bought Canadian resident tickets several years ago. They don't expire. We are planning to use them next year. They are just base tickets.

Can we add park hopper? If yes, any idea how much that costs?

Worst case. The value that was assigned to the tickets (by Disney) when you purchased them (whoever you purchased them from) will be subtracted from the current gate price for the park hopper you want. You will loose all advantage of the discount.

Some have reported receiving some pixie dust and just paying the cost to add a park hopper (I woudn't count on this happening)

I have toured the last 3 or 4 times without park hoppers (we purchase tickets from Airmiles and they are alway just base tickets) and have had a great time. It can take a little more planning and it does restrict flexibility of being able to do things spur of the moment but it can work.

Thank you! The reason I'm thinking about it is HS and how basically everything is a long wait. I thought we could go there twice and hop later in the afternoon. But if we can't upgrade until we get there then it's not worth it I don't think. And we don't want to lose our discounts.

I told my DH at the time we should get hoppers!!!!

The people who were pixie dusted did it over the phone. There is certainly no harm in giving them a call and seeing what they say.

We tried a few times and had no success. We would have lost our discount.

Thanks! I'll try. The worst that happens is we don't have PH and do two shorter days at HS. Maybe it will encourage us to try EMM at the MK to make sure we get everything done in 2 days!!

No luck for me. I bought several sets of non-expiring tickets a few years ago for our family of 4 and still have one set of non hoppers, but we always buy hoppers now. When I asked about adding hoppers last year, the best they could do was refund my tickets at original purchase price and purchase new hoppers without the discount. It was not worth it so I ended up buying new tickets.

Just looked at the numbers. I originally paid $1600 CAD for 7 day non-hoppers (4 people). To purchase the same 7 day non-hoppers now to go at Christmas, it would be $2600 USD, or for 7 day hoppers, $3000 USD. I think I will hang onto the tickets and just use it for a Christmas trip in the future.

Yup, mind you, going at Christmas is the most expensive tickets. The $1600 CAD that I paid was back in 2017, when they did not have different pricing for different times of the year, and I can't recall where our dollar was at that time. Nonetheless, it just goes to show how expensive it is to go to Disney now, especially for us with the dollar where it is.

I think ours were bought in 2017 or 2018 so I'm sure we'd have the same price change. I may call to find out but I won't count on making the change!!

If the tickets were non-expiring and you have already used them for admission (but have additional days left), you won't be able to modify them because any modification would have had to be made within 14 days of the original use.

If they are completely unused, my guess is that you be allowed to trade them in with some value, but les than current gate price for non-hoppers- and likely face value for the tickets, especially if purchased directly from Disney (meaning it will cost you more than the difference of just adding hoppers)

They are unused tickets. I had read somewhere I could add hoppers on for $80/ticket but wasn't sure if that was reliable information or not. I guess not.

We are going the end of April and my plans have us there from dawn to dusk. We should be able to do everything with careful use of FP and a bit of waiting in lines later in the day. If not, there is always the next trip.

No time for food or bathroom breaks but sometimes you just gotta make a sacrifice . (we eat counter service)

I'm in a similar boat - we bought those tickets a few years ago for our kids and we didn't use them for the 2 trips we took afterwards because we wanted to go more days and it was a "better" deal to just buy new tickets and save those for another trip so we didn't lose our discount. Well, now my daughter has just turned 10 so she can no longer use the child ticket and we'll have to pay the full upgrade price next time we go to upgrade her to an adult ticket! It will be several hundred dollars!

We also have a child ticket to use but we have until July 2022. For that trip, we have 2 adult 5 days and 1 child 5 days (all base) already bought from 2017. I NEED to buy another adult ticket for my oldest so I am debating whether I should buy 1 base or 2 PH tickets and keep one of my adult ticket for a future trip. The two PH would be for DH and oldest DD to go to DHS everyday for a few hours since they are HUGE Star War fans while me and youngest DD will enjoy our park of the day. Luckily I have time to decide and other trips to plan!

We were in a similar situation where we bought our tickets through Air Canada and they in error did not buy us park hopper tickets. We knew that we would likely lose the discount upgrading to park hopper but we were able to get pixie dusted at the Magic Kingdom guest relations and we only had to pay to add the park hopper but as others have said this is not the norm we were just lucky. It’s possible, worth a try.
