Some friends will be on their honeymoon at the same time we are vacationing. We have our ADRs (of course) and they'd like to join us- at Coral Reef in a little over a week from now. Is it possible to go from 4 to 6? I am trying to encourage them to join us at Boma, since I think it would be more likely to add them. Also, what if they don't show or change their minds? Would I be able to go down to 4 (of course I'd call asap- I am a good Diser!)? Thanks so much!

It would depend of course on availability, but it also seems that some CMS have trouble modifying reservations so have to book new ones and than cancel. I had this experience last night, but called back and got a CM who seemed to know more and was able to do exactly what I wanted.

As long as you are only adding a couple people at dinner and they don't require a CC for holding the ADR I would simply have them show up. Most dining places will make accomodations for a larger or smaller party as long as it isn't a huge difference. We've added and removed a couple people from dinner and it's never been a problem.

Good luck!!!

You can not technically modify the number of guests on a reservation. You would have to call and see if a table for 6 was available, get a new confirmation #, and then cancel the old reservation. They can't just change you from 4 to 6. You could chance just showing and saying there are now 6 in your party but I'm not sure how well that would work. If you really want to eat together and Coral Reef has nothing for 6 try Biergarten. Those table are made for large parties (they sit multiple families at tables together) so typically easier to get for larger groups. GL

My called Disney Dining when we had some people cancel on going with us a couple of years ago. I was told not to worry about it since we were reducing numbers. One of the ADRs was at CA Grill which requires CC and we were told that the guarantee was not per person, it was for the ADR in general so we did not get charged a penalty for a smaller party (only if we were a no-show).

The CM said they couldn't make changes to the ADR, they'd have to cancel it and try and find something else and since we were just a few weeks away, that wouldn't be likely.

She said if we were trying to add more people it might be a different story. The restaurants would try to accomodate but you might have to wait longer.

I actually just called yesterday to see if I could re-book for a party of 5 instead of a party of 4. For about half of our reservations, it was no problem and I got the same or very close times. For the other half (including Chef Mickey's, Le Cellier, Tusker House, etc.), I couldn't get another booking, but the CM said to just show up and let them know at the hostess desk and it wouldn't be a problem, though we might be putting a chair on the end of a table and be a bit cramped. We've done that before and never had a problem, though if they couldn't accommodate us, I wouldn't be upset with them, since I was the one making the reservation. I just try to be nice about it and ask without expectation.

One thing you might try is to get a booking for a party of 2 around the same time as your party of 4 booking. Good luck!
