We have our package booked and paid for, and all our ADR's made. I'm thinking about asking my dad to come down and spend the free dining portion of our trip with us. How hard would it be to add one person to our ADR's at this point? He'd be arriving about the 27th of November, so there's some time, but not a lot.

I'm sure it depends some on the place, like I doubt I can get him on our HDDR ADR, but what about places like Tony's, yak and yeti, coral reef, akershus, ohana breakfast, etc?

Would this be a huge hassle?

What about adding tickets and dining on to our package now that it is paid for?

It's a bit of a long story, but my dad has terminal cancer, and this opportunity came up recently. The very first time he went to WDW was with my dh and I. I would love if his last trip was with us as well.

I'm so sorry to hear of your dads terminal cancer. With that, I would spend as much time as you can with your dad. Time to enjoy, while there is still time.

Yes, your going to have to change your ressies. You've still got some time to do this. Don't let the hassle of changing your scheduling stand in the way!!! Some of your places may still add him in, while other's probably will not, i.e. Ohana. So I would try to change what you can, and that may take multiple tries of searching the scheduling system. Good luck.

My sympathies for you and your family. Best wishes to you and yours on making a memorable trip!

For the nitty gritty stuff... don't sweat it. Keep trying to add one to the reservations, and if else fails, show up a bit early and see what they can do. If you're an odd number party, then it'll be a bit easier as table-size is unlikely to change. Keep at it and I'm sure you'll find something.

For the trip details, if you're outside of the 45 day window, then you can add him just fine and payment will be due on that 45 day mark. If you are inside the 45 day window, then you will have to pay the difference in full when you add him. Neither way is a problem at all and very easy to do.

However, a caveat. Depending on your party size and resort, make sure that you are still within the occupancy limits. They will not be able to add him to your room if it will exceed those. Also, depending on where you stay, be prepared for an "extra adult" charge for the room. This is $10/night at Values, $15/night at Mods, and $25/night at Deluxe. This is not charged for villas and cabins though.

Thanks for the info. :) We're staying at the cabins, so occupancy won't be a problem. We have 5, and he'd make 6. For the first part of the trip we will be at the YC, so I thought I'd ask him to fly in the day we check in to the cabins. All he'd have to pay for is a plane ticket, and Disney tickets because we have the cabin already, and it's free dining.

I'll see what I can add him to, and he will probably not have the energy to make every ADR anyway, his health is starting to fail. He can still get out and do stuff, but he tires easy, and sleeps a lot.

It's funny, I had a heck of a time getting him to go the first time. He thought it was going to be like 6 flags or a bad carnival, and he could not understand why we loved Disney so much. So I finally convinced him to go, and when he saw Illuminations for the first time, he said with actual tears in his eyes that it was the best show he ever saw, lol. He's been several times since then. :) I've lorded that over my entire family for years, lol.

If you don't mind a slight element of risk, you could also try cancelling your reservation for five and rebooking immediately for six.

There has also been at least one report of being able to call the dining line and increase the number, so that might be worth a try, too.

If you are booked as a party of five and going to six, you will probably be at a table for six regardless, so that should work in your favor. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your father, and hope that you all have a wonderful trip together!

I called my dad today, and he's definitely coming! Now we just have to make sure my mom doesn't come (long story, she hates us, and I can see her tagging along just to ruin the trip).

I think I'm going to call the dining line and see if we can just make everything a table for 6; it should be easy since, like you said, we will already be seated at a 6. And I need to get him tickets to the MVMCP, also. Sleeping arrangements are going to be tight, but I know these are memories that I am going to cherish forever. :)

I'm definitely pre-ordering the photopass! Im tearing up thinking about spending this trip with my dad, and my kids. I think they will be glad they spent this time with their papa.
