Haven't even gotten out of ROFR yet on our contract and thinking of a small add on...how hard is it if you get the same UY but a different resort to make reservations?

Any input appreciated!

if you add-on directly, you usually have no choice but the same UY month.

adding a contract with a different UY month means it's not really an "add-on", it is a new membership (with a new member number).

if you add-on at BCV for 25 pts, you can only use the add-on pts at BCV at 11 months out...you cannot use them at your first resort and vice-versa until you get to 7 months out. at 7 months, you can combine them and book at any resort with availability.

I agree w/ Charles but in case you didn't know: You can bank & borrow on any contract and that is what we do with our small ones. We go to DL once every 2 or three years and own a total of 75 points there. By banking and/or borrowing for any given trip we can use up to 225 points, more than enough for the 6 nights I usually want to spend in a studio! :goodvibes

I have been wondering about this for a while. We own at BLT but would like to alternate our stays with BCV. If we add on points at BCV, will only the amount of points that we add on be available at the 11 month point? That is, if we have 200 points at BLT and add on 50 points at BCV, would we only have 50 pts toward a reservation at BCV available at 11 months out and then the other 200 available at 7 months out?

Yes, the 50 BCV points are the only points that will be available for use at the 11 month mark at BCV. The 11 month mark is the home resort advantage and it requires home resort points to make a reservation.

When you have two home resorts and the same UY they can be combined at the 7 month mark even for a single nights stay.

Many that have small contracts like you are considering for BCV will bank and borrow points and only stay at that resort every two or three years. Some members have three (or more) small contracts so that each year they stay at a different home resort by banking and borrowing their points. E.g.

Year 1 - use BLT's points and stay at BLT
Year 2 - use BCV points and stay at BCV
Year 3 - use BWV points and stay at BWV
