adding on...home resort or another resort?

for those of you who have added on after your first DVC purchase...a few questions. our home resort is BWV with a december use year. we are thinking of slowly adding on points over time (maybe 25-50 at a time). we plan to only add on contracts with a december use year.

-did you add on at the same resort or another resort? pros/cons?

-can you add on just 25 or 50 points at another resort, or do you have to do a full 150 point contract in each resort (other than your home resort)?

-does it make sense to add even a small (25-50 point) contract elsewhere, or does this make things more complicated with different 7 month and 11 month windows?

we started at OKW but we added on to the resorts we wanted to get at the 11 month windows..........problem is we now own every resort because we want total flexibility....it is not realisitic for everyone to do but with my family it works...........i think the reason to own elsewhere is the 11 month window really for busy times........like HH in the summer or GV at the BW for Xmas

We added on at a different resort we wanted a change ov venue for our points and the buy in deal was better for the add on than otherwise buying again at our home resort.

thanks, i am enjoying hearing your responses and look forward to hearing more experiences. i am wondering if adding on just a small contact at another resort doesn't really help with variety at the 11 month window if the points aren't enough to book a vacation...or is it only worhtwhile with a larger contract? thanks!

We added on at a different resort, because I like to go solo to a different resort than DH and I go to, and this way we got the 11 month window at 2 different resorts. We didn't have to add 150 points at a different resort. I think the minimum was 50, but we took 100.

We have 85 points at BCV and 115 points at Vero. But, even with less - I think it would still be worth it. Because you can essentially have 3 years of points to use at a time with banking and borrowing, if you want. You would just have to switch off resorts every couple of years.

It's working for us... I made our Labor Day Reservations for Vero last week, and a night at BCV for MNSSHP and the F&W Festival in October just today - both using the priority booking period. I also booked our Thanksgiving reservations today for OKW.

Without those small contracts - I would have just had to have "taken our chances" at the 7-month mark.

We did a 25 point add on at our home resort, with the same use year - same use year makes it easier for 11 month out booking. I didn't think 25 points anywhere else would serve us well, even 75 points total (3 years worth). We're not interested in banking and borrowing the small contract, we were just interested in having more at our favorite place = BWV! Good luck with your decision.

I did an add on at my home resort (75 points, same UY). I didn't even really consider adding on at another resort because I anticipate only occasionally staying at a different site.
