Has anyone done an Adventures by Disney trip to France and added on Disneyland Paris? Now that there is a new France itinerary, I thought Disneyland Paris would be included, but it's not. I would like to start my France trip (August 2012)with a 2 or 3 night visit to Disneyland Paris. Any suggestions? Is Disneyland Paris near Versailles, where the Esprit de France trip begins? Thanks!

Hello Tsgirl !

I have never been on this trip but I am French and I have lived for the past 2 years in Paris. I have been to Disneyland Paris many times and it is very accessible by various means of trasportation.
Disneyland Paris and Versailles are not that close. You can use the public transportation to get there but it will long (most likely more than 1 hour). My brother did Disneyland Paris to Versailles by car and told me it was ok as long as you avoid rush hour.

I had the same question. Is the public transit from the airport to Disneyland Paris easy? I was thinking that possibly you could take transport from airport to DLP spend 2 days there and then take the transport back to the airport to meet up with the Adventures by Disney group.

We are looking at the first trip in August.

Hi tsgirl! We did the ABD London/Paris 2 years ago and arranged our own Disney Paris trip. There was another family in the group who was going and we were able to talk our guides into sending us to DP instead of the airport, since the transfers are included in the cost of the trip. They did just that. On the return, I made my own transfer arrangements from the Disney hotel to the airport. It is a good distance from Paris, a lot of empty land along the way. If I am not mistaken, it is about a half hour to an hour to get to and from Paris.

Have fun on your trip! DP is smaller than Disneyland but it has its own European charm. The Esprit d' France trip look really interesting too but we only have so much time to take off. :cloud9:

Thanks for the info/suggestions. We can only do the Disneyland Paris portion BEFORE the Esprit de France trip, since my daughter's 21st birthday is August 12 and she really wants to be home for that. I'm going to see if I can figure it out. I think it might be a good idea to just get back to the airport to meet up with the group. Does anyone know if Disney owned hotels provide anything like the Magical Express which we could take to/from the airport? Hilarys, we are booked on the August 4 trip. Is that the one you mean? Do you have kids? I have 3 daughters (presently 13, 17, and 20). Another family we met on Alpine Magic booked the August 4 Esprit de France as well.

If you want to go from CDG airport to Disneyland paris you can take the TGV (high-speed train). There are train approximately every 30 min and the train ride is about 10 minutes. In CDG, the train station is situated near Terminal 2 but it is easily accessible from the other terminals by using cdgval.
Except on week end there are always tickets to purchase at the last minute

You can also use the RATP train. It will be cheaper but will take way longer

Cindy, We do have kids - a boy and a girl who will be 7 and 9 next summer. I am really interested in this trip or Viva Italia (my first choice before this new trip was announced), but now that I price it out with airfare and the fact that I cannot use DVC points (not enough banked), I am questioning whether they are really old enough for this type of trip at this price point. I am planning on posting that as a separate question on the board later today.

Aulika, thanks for the advice. TGV sounds like the way to go, although with just Adventures by Disney the concern of transporting my overpacked luggage would not have existed. If I am having to take two children and all the luggage on a train, I would need to re-think luggage.

Hilary

Hilary, I guess it is a personal decision. There were children the same age as yours on our Alpine Magic trip, and I think they really enjoyed it. It is quite expensive though, so waiting a few years is a fine option as well.

we did Disneyland Paris 2 years ago ony to do Paris
.from CDG take Disney bus to the resort, not the Train, I did that and regret it, trust me.
. There is a train station in walking distance and you can go any where you want. Versailles is about an hour away and can be done very easily.
.CITYRAMA, a tour company has day trips. One trip took us to Louvre, Eiffel tower and Seine cruise and the other was Paris at night Which includes illuminations at Eiffel Tower.
.If you stay at DISNEYland hotel you get incredibile breakfast
.I sincerely wish you could do this trip and I hope more DVC members with points to burn could also take this oppurtunity to base themselves at Disneyland Paris and Explore Paris and surrounding areas.

FAN4ABD : when you talk about the train do you mean the TGV (high speed train run by SNCF) or you talking about the RER (slow urban train run by the RATP) ?

The train service from CDG to Disney is TGV. First of all TGV station is 6 blocks away from where you pick your luggage from. On the other hand Disney bus is out the door. I was talking about Tgv from Cdg to Disney ...bad choice. Since most of the trip is within Paris and its outskirts speed rarely goes above 90 kmph. Disney bus is the best choice from CDG TO Disney, in my opinion, having done that both ways. But more importantly, using Disney points to stay at DLP and enjoying Paris is a very good way of using your points. There is only one hooker to this i.e., you have to buy tickets to DLP whether you want to visit the park or not. WE did, but didn't use them much.

Does anyone know if you can do the Disneyland Paris Adventures by Disney add on BEFORE your trip starts as opposed to after?
I would call ABD and ask. I tend to think not, because they won't offer you any kind of transport from DLP to London to start the trip. But it certainly couldn't hurt to ask!

Sayhello

You are right sayhello, it didn't hurt to ask, but you were right again, it can only be added on afterwards. Since my oldest daughter wants to be home for her 21st birthday, I guess I will arrange the add on myself. It seems like it's too early to book the hotel at Disneyland Paris, so I will need to wait a bit. Then, I need to decide whether I want to use DVC points or cash. The DVC points do not include park admission, but it looks like the website hotel packages do. Any advice from anyone? Thanks!

WHen we went a few years ago we just hired a car service - very quick, easy and not any more expensive than the US - i just didn't want to lug kids and my "way too much" luggage on the train:rolleyes1

We just returned from the DIS Knights and Lights with DLP add-on. I have the business card for the car service we used at home and will post it this evening. Our driver was amazing and was recommended by ABD.

I did a lot of Christmas shopping on this trip, so my husband and I had a LOT of luggage - 2 checked bags each plus carry ons. If you have a lot of luggage, the train will not be a pleasant experience.

Our driver's name was Jean-Michel Oheix. His e-mail address is jean-michel@olimo.fr The website he lists on his card doesn't seem to be working, but it is olimo.fr. If you want his phone number, let me know. We found the best way to communicate was via e-mail. He drove us from DLP to our apartment near the Eiffel Tower (ABD paid transfer) and from our apartment to CDG at 6:30 am.

If you have any questions about the trip or transportation, please let me know! The shopping at DLP is fabulous....:cool2:
