I have 115 SSR points i bought resale. I'm wanting to get an additional amount of 50 points at Beach Club and am considering just adding on direct, but I'm also considering selling my 115 SSR points once I get the add-on points. That would mean I only had 50 direct points - can I do that? Is it "ok" to just have 50 direct points? I only ask because I know if you aren't an owner it's 150 to buy in.

2nd, I can't stay at Riviera with my resale points, but could I stay there with my BCV points?

2. If your BCV points are purchased direct, then yes, you can use them at Riviera. Although 50 points will only get you about 2 nights (without banking/borrowing).

When did you purchase your resale points? If the 115 resale were purchased before January 19th , 2019, they can be used at RIV. If they were purchased after that date, then they cannot be used at RIV.

Once you add on the 50 BCV direct, you are free to sell any other contracts you own. The requirement for 150 is simply to purchase as a new owner. Since you are already an owner, you are eligible for smaller amounts.

Yes, the direct points will be good at RIV and all future resorts. But, as already mentioned, the resale points can also be used there if you bought prior to January 2019. If you purchased after that time, then no, they can not.

Haven’t checked yet, but what is the PPP for Beach Club direct? I know RIV was supposed to increase after August 4th. Waiting for the perfect resale on RIV....already have 200 there....but need a few more.

I'm not sure if Riviera increased, but one of the discounts expired

For BCV, 50 will get me the exact weekend I want in several of my usual travel seasons. I don't see it changing, since it's a solo trip I love to take - but if it did I'd imagine I could easily sell.

Nope, definitely can't use them at riviera. Bought during COVID!

$245. :( Pricey but based on a much longer train of thought related to buying and then selling it could be the right path for me! I need to figure out the break even point but haven't had the chance yet!

It's pricey all right. In fact, at $245/point you are at or exceeding rental prices. However, I am considering a 50 pointer myself so 🤷‍♂️. I really can't value it for selling because on 1/31/2042 it is worth zero. At some point the pricing needs to decline unless they are going to add a sweetener for a discount on the "new Beach Club" after expiration.

Are you sure about that? Not what I was told recently. If you added on 50 points right now direct, and sold other direct contracts, I was told you are no longer grandfathered in and would need a minimum of 150 points then. Why It's important to keep at least one older grandfathered contract.

Sounds like there may be confusion between "Blue Card" minimums and minimum to be considered an owner eligible to add on. They are different.

Eligibility for Blue Card perks does operate the way you posted. If an owner with grandfathered points sells those points and only has 50 direct points left, he/she loses the Blue Card perks. To get the Blue Card back, he/she will have to purchase enough direct points to meet the minimum for Blue Card perks. Currently, that's 150 direct points.

However, even after selling the grandfathered points, she/he is still considered a DVC owner (because he/she still has 50 direct points). He/She is still eligible to add on points at whatever the member add on minimum is for the resort being purchased. Currently, that can be as low as 25 for some resorts. If that owner wants a different use year than the 50, then it's a new membership and even an existing owner must purchase the new member minimum.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Blue Card membership. The way the other post was phrased, I'm not sure was clear. the OP stated their first contract was resale, so Blue Card was likely not an issue. As you stated, once you are a DVC owner, Blue Card or not, you can add on points.

Yes. I am not referring to blue card benefits. I am simply referring to staying an owner. The OP has no qualified points now and wasn't talking about being blue card.
