Adding on and the 11 month window

Since I'm new to these boards forgive me if this question has already been asked before.

It is my understanding from the lady at Quality Assurance that the advantage to adding on to another resort is the 11 month window. However, she told me that you can only book at the 11 month window the rooms for which you have points at that resort. For example I add on 50 points at VWL. That will only buy me two weekend nights. Therefore, I can only book those two nights at the 11 month window and I have to wait until the 7month window to book the remaining part of the trip.

Am I right or just confused??

Right!

But another way to use them is with banking and borrowing. You know that you can have three times your yearly allotment of points available at any time, right?

200 points SSR
50 WLV

If you just use the SSR points the first year and bank the WLV points, the second year you could bank the SSR points, borrow next year's WLV points and use 150 points at WLV, the third year you borrow the next years SSR points, you now have 600 points to use for a long Grand Villa stay.

With banking and borrowing a small contract can be used for a decent vacation every third year.

You are correct. Only the points purchased at the resort qualify for the 11 month window.

However, many members use banking and borrowing to get up to 3 years worth of points to use at the 11 month window. Using that strategy with your 50 point add on, you could have 150 points worth of VWL to book at the 11 month window every thrid year. In other words, you could bank 2004 points into 2005, borrow 2006 points and take a trip in 2005 that costs 150 points.

Best wishes -

Thanks for the responses. Now it all makes sense to me. Not that we'll be adding on for a year or two. We bought 200 to avoid adding on but the temptation is pretty great.

Have a great day!!!
