Adding On a Value DVC Resort

Identify these people so I can have words with them.

My husband thinks the AKV rooms are too dark and he hates the long hallways. Our kids love savanna view rooms so he needs to just deal with it for now

I’d go AKL. The standard view rooms are a great deal and easy to get. I take that over SSR, which is pretty close in points and resale cost, and AKL has a few more years. Maybe you can get value a time or two and really sweeten it.

AKL is challenging when it comes to food. If that’s an issue, my backup pick is SSR. The old classic for overall value points.

I disagree OKW is really that good of value for anything but the GV. The points are high priced in resale, I’d pick SSR.

I have a family of 5. We stay at AKV/SSR/OKW. The living/dining area of OKW is bigger and the layout is better for larger groups, esp. as patio/balcony has a table with 4 chairs. I'd look for an extended contract. However, the renovations of SSR are very nice. But I cannot imagine having 8 in a 2 bedroom living/dining space. Same for AKV.

I find it hard to believe that OKW has higher dues than AKL. That's just crazy to me. That may factor into my decision.



I've thought about this somewhat, but these points are pretty much going to be dedicated to them if they want them. If they don't want them that year (or the next year, if banked), then I would just use them for an additional trip, birthday trip or whatever.

OKW is an aging resort and needs more upkeep now that is why you are beginning to see the maintenance fees creep up faster percentage wise .

Thanks for all the advice. I've pretty much settled on AKL just because it has at least somewhat of a 11 month window. Now the question becomes do you purchase direct or resale? I'm only purchasing 50 or so points.

I could currently get 2021's points without paying for dues since it's so long in the cycle and I have a Feb use year. That would allow me to use these points at Rivera (in combination with my other direct contract) when I don't need them for family. Or I could purchase resale and save maybe $500 based on the 1 contract that's for sale in my use year.

I wish they would go ahead and release the pricing for VGF. That's a resort I would like to have some points at. I just expect it's going to be high, but I would like to know before I purchase my add-on.

For 50 points, I would go direct. I don’t think the small savings for resale is worth going through the ROFR and 2-3 months long process.
