Adding on a night- would you....

We are adding a night at the beginning of our early December stay (saved money on flights). Right now I booked Saratoga Springs studio since its all that was left availability wise and wait listed at Jambo since thats where rest of the week will be. Thinking about it- I wasn't sure if that was a good use of our points

We don't mind split stays and are basically just needing a room for the night before moving to AKV for the rest of the stay.

Edit- flight gets in around 4:30pm- we weren't planning on using that as a park day- if staying at Saratoga we could easily go to DTD

It was 15 pts for the night at Saratoga

The cash room at AKV was over $300

Night in a value would be around $100

Night in a mod would be around $200

What would you recommend and why?

I'd vote SSR-guessing your cost for your 15 points is less than $200 for a moderate-since you don't plan on going to a park and itay very well be too cold to swim in Dec if it were me I would want the nicest accommodation/resort possible to entertain me for the evening-plus they only have full size beds at value resorts not queen like moderate/deluxe resorts-DTD will be fun and you can take easily take the boats from DTD to OKW or POR resorts if you want a nice boat ride.

If you don't mind a value, I'd pick that then mod and lastly use your points. I would also try Orbitz. They currently have a 15% off on top of the Disney summer rate, not sure about Fall.

SSR is nice, close to DTD, shopping, great restaurants, bowling, dinner & a movie at the AMC. If you don't want to leave the resort, the Turf Club at SSR has good Prime Rib and an excellent spa! I would go for it! I would much prefer this to a value stay.

I would use the points because my wife really likes the comfort of a DVC room (and would tell me to, if asked). Also, we are always in a position of always having to bank points.

Since you won't be in the room only to sleep for the most part, SSR, dinner at DTD.

Luckily we do have some extra points we used to book the night- and since we haven't been to DTD in a few trips in might be fun to check it out this trip- thanks for the advice

We were in a similar situation except we were out of points. Booked one night at AoA so DD can see it and then off to OKW. if I had my choice though I would have bought one time use points and done a DVC. <spoiled>

Downtown Disney has changed dramatically and is a parking nightmare, the only way I would go is via boat from one of the resorts so SSR is a perfect choice if you are going to explore DTD. Have fun.
