Adding Nexus to WestJet Flight

Hi everyone. We usually fly to Disney from Buffalo so it's been years since we've flown WestJet but we got a great deal for our April trip. I want to add our Nexus/Known Traveler Number to our tickets to ensure we get TSA Pre-Check for our flight home. However, when I try, it says "Sorry, guest information can't be accessed at this time." I get a similar "can't be accessed" message for all the other options: change flight, cancel flight, seat selection. On the app, all the options are grayed out. Is this because we're still 4 months out? Perhaps they're working on the website? Any insights would be appreciated.

Did you book directly with westjet? When I have booked through other sources (like airmiles) I am not able to make changes on the website and have to call.

If I don't add the number when I book the ticket I have had to call to have it added.

I booked directly with WestJet. My plan B is to call in, but since I still have 4 months, I'll keep checking back.

You will be able to add the info when you check in for your flight. We just flew to MCO on Christmas Day so it is fresh in my mind. Although I have made a WJ account for every member of my family and added the info to their individual accounts, I still had to re-enter the numbers upon check-in.

Not to worry you can do this by adding the nexus numbers at check in we did this for our trip this past December. Worked out great.

I just added mine for a trip in 3 weeks through the website no problem so I suggest trying the site instead of the app. I need to get my husband's card so that I can add his too.

You can't do it in advance. You have to do it when you check in for your return flight. Also, most of the time it still doesn't print TSA Precheck on the boarding pass - or it will only do it for one of us - so we go up to the agents and have them do it even if we've already checked in. Make sure it actually says TSA PreCheck on your boarding pass even if it seems like it accepted your Nexus card information. If it doesn't say it, they won't let you through that line. Learned that the hard way.

For what it’s worth, if one person is checking everyone in then they have to enter each person’s Nexus (and passport) number separately during the checkin process anyway, even if it’s stored in their own Westjet profile, since the app only accesses the account holder’s profile during the process.

For example, DH and I each have our Nexus numbers saved to our Westjet profiles, but if he uses the app to check both of us in then he has to enter my Nexus number during checkin, and vice versa. If we each check in ourselves separately, he using his app and me using mine, then our own Nexus (and passport) numbers populate automatically during the checkin process.

When I checked my sister in in December using the Westjet website it had pre-populated both of our information from our respective westjet acconts, including our passport and Nexus numbers. I was a little surprised, but I didn't have to enter the info, just check that it was accurate (it was).

Good to know. We rarely use the website for anything since we’re iPad/iPhone users. Wish they could get the app to do the same. It’s annoying that I have to type DH’s numbers in every time (Or he has to type mine). We’ve actually started to check in separately just to avoid it.
