Adding Guest to DVC Rental Reservation

I have an upcoming stay at WL using points through a rental with the DVC Rental Store for a studio at Boulder Ridge. I am within 30 days of my trip and just found out that my nephew is also coming at the same time and I wanted to add him to my reservation. DVC Rental Store told me that I can't since I'm within the 30 days of my arrival. Is there any other way to add my nephew to my reservation? There is only 1 adult and 1 child listed on my reservation now so adding in my nephew (who is over 18) will not put me over the limit of people in the room. Thanks!
 
The owner of the points needs to add your nephew. I don't know why DVC Rental Store won't have them do this for you; check your agreement with them. It's certainly not a DVC rule. You can always have him added at check-in, but that won't help with making park reservations in advance.
 
The terms of your contract with them determine what changes are allowed and when. If they don’t allow it within 30 days, then there is no way to add them at this late date.

My guess is it has to do with the contract with the owner and that they may have to pay them to do it.

CMs at the resort do not have the same access to a DVC reservation that they do for cash ones so adding him at check in may not work.

Unfortunately this is one of the drawbacks to rentals..

I have modified names on reservations within 30 days many times for my own reservations and for rented reservations. I've never used DVC Store but Davids has always handled these requests by sending an email with updated info to the owner of the points and no time limit that i am aware of.

Thanks! DVC Rental Store won't allow it since the contract says no changes within 30 days (which I completed missed when asking them to make the change).

That's too bad, but in reality it won't affect him much except for park reservations, which also probably won't be an issue, especially in July/August.

Absolutely. I've done this before.

My daughter could not add her friend who joined her last minute.l…her friend was local…all they could do was give her a day pass so she could use the pool.

See above for my explanation. And, as a rental, your contract probably states you agree to make no changes at check in because CMs have been known to mess up an owners points doing it.

Since it’s not your membership, it’s a potentially a big risk to the owner. Many times, they require the owner to call MS to do it while at the front desk.

OK- dumb question but what does a day pass include? He already has his park reservations (he was planning on staying with a friend originally) and there are extended evening hours for one of the nights of our trip- would he be able to attend that if he's give a day pass? Sorry for all the questions- this is the first time I've ever rented DVC points- I definitely do not want to cause issues for the owner!

No, because he is not a registered guest, it just allows them to use the resort facilities.

I am not saying that there have not been instances where a DVC owner got the front desk to add a guest, but it’s not common, When it is an owner making the request, if they mess it up, the owner can get it fixed.

As I said I am sure it’s disappointing, but I would not try it and risk that the owner you rented from has issues. I’d also double check your contract to make sure there is no penalty for you if you did attempt it,

Thanks! I 100% agree- definitely don't want to risk anything happening to the owner. I've had zero issues with DVC Rental Store and would like to use them again. It's my own fault for not realizing the 30 day limit.
 
Your nephew would be able to stay in the park for the EMH, he just would not be able to ride any attractions. They don't make people leave like they do for an after hours party. They scan MB's at the ride entrances to make sure you are staying at a deluxe resort.
